I'll go one further. DeBust Shizer is done. Career-wise, I mean. He's the worst Browns QB to ever suit up for them. This isn't hyperbole. This is fact. Since 1997, for players who've started at least five games and attempted at least 140 passes, as Kizer has, here's your list for sub-50 QB rating: 1 - JaMarcus Russell - 50.0 2 - DeShone Kizer - 49.5 3 - Craig Whelihan - 48.0 4 - Heath Shuler - 46.6 5 - Bobby Hoying - 45.6 6 - Derek Anderson - 42.1 7 - Alex Smith - 40.8 8 - Ryan Leaf - 39.0 Here's where it gets worse. Every QB listed there had at least one win through their starts. All by one (Hoying) had two or more. Where do we go from here? We outright cut Kizer and move on.
DAYUM, Sammy! That's a little harsh. (And, OBTW, we both know that's not going to happen.) Sometimes I really can't tell when you're being serious or when you're simply tweeking someone's nose. No . . . Kizer will be the starting QB next week and, barring injury, for the foreseeable future. Hue will keep trotting him out there and continue to fan the flames under his seat and a pandemic of apathy will sweep across the Brown's fanbase.
Oh, we know it's not happening. But I am dead serious that they need to move on from him. He's very clearly not the future. Regardless of who starts the remainder of these games, the Browns will have to use a first round pick on a QB in the 2018 Draft. That should all but seal the deal on the Kizer Experiment.
They can't trot Kizer out there next week...They just can't.....for the love of Pete! How much can we take?
Tell you what, Einstein. How about a little wager? IF Kizer starts week 6, you ban yourself from posting on a Browns board until the day after Thanksgiving. IF someone other than Kizer starts week 6, I will ban myself from posting on a Browns board until the day after Thanksgiving. Obviously, if Kizer is injured in practise leading up to week 6, then the bet is off. Are you game?
Don't do it Lym...Hue is gonna announce this week that he's going with your guy Kevin Hogan on Sunday...You've been in Hogans corner all along. This is your time to strut. Don't take yourself out...
I meant it when I said I was excited to see what this team can do with Hogan. Even if he can only provide that sort of false hope we got when Hoyer was our guy....I believe the date was Nov.14, 2014. That Browns had just beat the Bengals on Thursday night football to move to 6-3 on the season, before everything caved in. Ahhh those were good times....Since that date, Cleveland has gone a terrifying 5-39. smh....It's gotta stop. Or the fans are gonna stop. NO KIZER...We would have won easily yesterday if Hogan had started.
Depends on the Cleveland team. I saw the Indians are 40-9 in their last 49 games. Browns are 9-40 in their last 49 games.
First . . . "my guy" is whoever is the starting QB of the Cleveland Browns. I only said, "don't sleep on Hogan" because of (a) what I saw of his play at Stanford and (b) because he played at Stanford, he had to have something between his ears other than luckey charms. Second . . . Even if I'm wrong and lose the bet, that equals more than a month where I don't have to deal with Slopper's bullshit. Either way it's a Win, Win!
Maybe so, but through most of the offseason, most weren't even mentioning him at all. Especially the "talking heads" on ESPN and the likes. It was Osweiller, Kessler and Kizer talk. Nobody was really even acknowledging that Hogan was in the mix. So I'm giving you credit for that one...
Where Do We Go From Here? 1.1 Cleveland Browns: Saquon Barkley, RB Penn State The top, non-QB in the college game today. Isaiah Crowell is a lame duck right now and Duke Johnson Jr. has never been asked to carry the load by himself. Barkley is complete package at running back and is set to break the 23 year drought of RBs going first overall (1995 - Ki'jana Carter - also Penn State). 1.12 Cleveland Browns (f/Houston Texans): Baker Mayfield, QB Oklahoma Just because the Browns skip QB at the top of the draft doesn't mean they pass on the position completely. Some muddiness today at the position as well as not knowing what the law firm of Kizer-Hogan & Kessler will bring for the remainder of 2017. Mayfield may be on the smaller side, but has that "it factor" guys like Deshaun Watson do. One of the top-rated passers in college right now. 2.33 Cleveland Browns: Simmie Cobbs Jr., WR Indiana Big-bodied WR who had a heck of a game Week 1 against tOSU Buckeyes (who boast a very talented secondary). WR is obviously a glaring hole for this team and they can't very well pass up talent at the position in the 2018 draft. Cobbs (6'4" and 220 pounds) gives newly-minted Baker Mayfield a major target in the passing game. 2.43 Cleveland Browns (f/Houston Texans): Denzel Ward, CB Ohio State Jason McCourty is playing at an All Pro level. Jamar Taylor, meanwhile, is running hot and cold. Knee injuries to their fourth round pick in 2017 have us unclear of what we have there. An infusion of talent at the position though, would allow Williams' defense even more aggressiveness in blitzing. Ward entered the season as a top-rated corner but has struggled a bit with consistency. Could be available here. 2.55 Cleveland Browns (f/Philadelphia Eagles): Orlando Brown, OT Oklahoma His dad played for the Browns, so why not? He's also huge (6'8" 345 pounds) and could play at RT if Shon Coleman doesn't lock down the job over the rest of the season. He could also be groomed behind Joe Thomas as a future at LT. Outside of QB, RB, WR, and FS - this team isn't full of holes. That is perhaps what makes the futility so frustrating. Too soon?
Look at this team and find the glaring holes. 1. QB 2. WR 3. RB 4. FS 5. K But that's really it. Yes, we could use upgrades in every position just like most other teams could use upgrades at a lot of positions, but so many of the other spots are either locked or held down by a developing player who's shown at least the ability to play on Sunday's. And I'd argue that RB really isn't as bleak as it's looked due to inconsistency on offense and with the play-calling.
"Lights Out" Apologies coming in with Week 4 stuff, but I wanted to get to this early and didn't get a chance. Hue Jackson called the now-benched DeBust Shizer's performance "lights out". Clarified those comments today when asked about the benching he didn't mean so much his play but his understanding of where to go with the football, where to throw to, and which decisions to make. Anytime you complete less than 50% of your passes and turn the ball over (I'll concede on a tipped ball), I don't know that you can be "lights out", but check out this passing chart. Remind you of anyone we know? Three attempts 10+ yards (1 of 3, at that)? Maybe, this guy? Reporter Pool: "Hue... when was DeShone Kizer's best game in the NFL?" Hue: "When he played like Cody Kessler." #HelpUsCody1KenobiYou'reOurOnlyHope
