And yet he still grades out better than Brown.

No offense taken towards Brown I was just curious as to who you would take ahead of him. For my taste Julio doesn't find the endzone enough. As for Bigger Hill is also 5'10" (same as Brown) and Beckham is 5'11". Im taking Brown over all of them and yes part of that may be homerism but there is enough stats over his career for me to back up the homerism. For example barring injury he will soon have more catches in a six year span than anyone (he already holds the record for a 5 year span). Wes Welker holds the record with 672 catches and Brown is sitting at 668. He is 14 catches away from his 6th straight 100 yard reception season which would be anew record breaking his own record. Thomas has the best shot of matching or breaking Browns strangle hold on that record.

Overall all good choices and I can see why someone would pick them over Brown just wont be me doing so at least not yet

In no universe is Gordon better than Brown.

I realize in the absence of a brain you have to let the all-mighty, all-knowing PFF decide your opinions for you...but you might want to back away from that one.

And how dare me actually say a player needs to prove on the field that he is actually capable of not sucking. Shameful.

Im sure more than just Stopper and I think PFFs grades are junk

PFF ranked Case Keenum, Eli Manning, Joe Flacco, Josh McCown, Tyrod Taylore and Blake Bortles ahead of Deshaun Watson last year you taking any of those guys over him based on their rankings?

    my .02

I would pass on Hopkins all together. He tends to disengage when playing with avg to below avg QBs.

In a universe where Gordon has no personal issues. His ability IS greater than all on the list...he just hasn't strung it together. I believe that has been the point all along.

In terms of Watson and PFF last year, he was bailed out ALOT by his receivers when he underthrew balls or had bad placement. Lucky for him that Hopkins likes him more than Tom Savage and put forth effort on those types of throws.

That is an extremely moot point. Ability isn't greater than results. And it's also subjective. His ability being greater than all on the list is your opinion...not a fact. And all on the list have outperformed him on the field....which is all that actually matters in the end.

In terms of PFF....PFF is mostly garbage and shouldn't be relied on to decide opinions about football or individual players.

And "PFF is mostly garbage" is your opinion, not a fact!

While I'm also not a big fan of PFF, there is a place for subjective statistics in sports. Qualitative Statistics (subjective statistics such as softness, color hue, venicle ride/handling, catchable balls, etc.) can be used as a relative measure as long as the following conditions exist:
    • The individual (or group of individuals) performing the analysis remains the same for all samples.
    • The individual (or group of individuals) performing the analysis have some degree of knowledge or expertise in the subject matter.
    • The criteria used to arrive at a conclusion remains unchanged for all samples over time.
While I much prefer Quantitative Statistics (results that can be measured or counted) over qualitative statistics, I don't take much issue with comparing one player to his peers using subjective analysis as long as the conditions outlined above are met.

It is opinion...I didn't present it as fact. When someone says something like this...

His ability IS greater than all on the list...he just hasn't strung it together. I believe that has been the point all along.

That's an example of using an absolute to make a point...and it's wrong.

There should always and will always be a place in sports for subjective stats. I like subjective stats. I didn't make an argument to the contrary.

I object when I see people continuously fall back on the PFF argument....as at least one frequent Browns fan does here....time and time again and then scoffs when someone actually has the audacity to question the merit of PFF as if it's an entity above criticism. It's not. Plain and simple.

May or may not be true but he has personal issues that make it hard to trust him. Just like guys who are injured all the time but great when they are on the field if your not available you cant really be the best at your position.

Just because its an opinion doesnt make it wrong

There you go again. Stating your opinion as fact.

The act of Dogside saying the Gordon's ability is greater is just him stating his opinion. By capitalizing "IS", my take is that he was simply emphasizing his opinion.

    You're trying too hard....

I'm aware it's his opinion....I'm also aware that he thinks his opinion is factual.

You can't use PFF.com because it's subjective and doesn't carry water.

    (Or so I've been told.)

Who's ranking the receivers in 2016 in 2018? We're about two posts away from discussing how Josh Gordon was the best receiver in the NFL in 2013, so...

So what is it? Was he the best receiver two years in a row, but now he's 30th?
