He's on record claiming Kizer's never gonna get it, sooo..... Irish, You probably right about the game-planning against Hogan. I certainly don't doubt it. But could it possibly be worse for us than the game-planning against Kizer? I think the kid just needs a breather. He's thinking too much. You can literally see the indecisiveness when he's in there...Given the amount of time the O-line has provided for our QB's, even in all the obvious passing situations, I'd have to think Josh McCown would have us at a minimum of 2-2 as he does the Jets. Our WR's suck, but so does all the passes at the knees and behind the WR. It's a combination of the two. When Kizer does put it on em, they drop it....Browns fans shouldn't have to watch this. I agree with SAS, that virtually any available QB would be an improvement. Just try to provide a little spark. Throw in a package of Hogan plays, at least. Lets see Peppers get the ball once or twice. This lethargic thing they have going on right now is making me sick. The losing is too much. We might be the first team ever to start the season with 3 QB's that have never won an NFL game, and finish the season with 3 QB's that have never won an NFL game. Good gawd.
Here's a key point, @TopDawg ... Hue Jackson's gameplan is trash. Even when the game isn't out of hand, like the first quarter in Cincinnati, watch some of the routes. He's got four receivers all running verticals! We can lambaste the receivers all day, and some of that is rightfully deserved, but here's the deal: two receivers on this offense can generate separation against man coverage - Kenny Britt and Corey Coleman. Coleman is out for another 5-7 weeks, so that leaves us with Britt. The rest of the wide receivers are so young, unpolished, whatever you want to call it... they can't get separation against man coverage. So opposing defenses are teeing off against us. Kenny Britt in the rotation? Play zone. Kizer cannot read a defense so he won't find the soft spots in coverage. Even if he does, he's so late on his reads he won't get it there on time or accurately. If you can have the secondary hold up, you can get a sack. Kenny Britt out of the rotation? Play man coverage. No one is getting separation and it should be an easy coverage sack or a forced throw into coverage. Beyond the receivers, I go back to running the football. First Down: 56 passes to 53 runs. Second Down: 58 passes to 22 runs. Third Down: 40 passes to 9 runs. Runs on third down averaging 6.3 YPA. Short-yardage (1-6 yards-to-go): 28 passes to 19 runs. Tied (since we haven't had the lead once this season): 21 passes to 24 runs - the only time we run more than pass, and the split is 53% to 47%. First Half: 68 passes to 57 runs. Duke Johnson Jr. - 5.4 YPC Run. The. Football. Hue is forcing the downfield passing game when we don't have the quarterback to make the throws or the receivers to run the routes. Why?
Only by you and I...I don't think for one hot minute the Browns organization felt that, otherwise he would have at least been given some repetitions in practice prior to the injury epidemic. I think you are wrong in your assessment. I believe this is Haslem's guys and he is going to see the plan through, at least one more season. For the record, if Jackson goes, so does everyone else and we will be at square #1 YET AGAIN. I sincerely hope this isn't the case. I want to see what a plan of continuity brings, something we haven't tried yet. To your second point, Jackson IS developing a QB Spoiler: THE FUTURE Maybe not the way an expert like your self wants it done, but he is in fact developing him. I'm really not sure why you are sitting at your little desk with your phone plugged into the speakers. I would trade that equipment in for a whistle and make millions in the NFL selling your magic dust that transforms backup QBs into Super Bowl winning players. And SAS, please stop putting sayings under MY name as saying them to try and make others think I did, otherwise I will report you and you can spend your days waiting to get unbanned again. You know very well, I quoted Britt and did not say this was going to be a scary offense...You are libel for those actions, whether this is just a message board or not. @Tim, please let me know if this is how the boards are to be run so that I can plan my postings in the future. You are becoming whiny and immature to the point of wanting to ignore you, which I told myself I would never ignore another Browns fan..I never thought you would go this far.
I just don't want to go chasing that Detroit record of 0-16 again. It feels like that's where we are headed... Bottom line as I see it. Hogan has been in twice and provided a spark to an otherwise stagnant offense both times. That's no coincidence. That's a sure sign that the starting QB might be holding ya back a bit... I expected to see pretty major improvements in the return home game, and we got just the opposite, which quite frankly, surprised me. It's obvious to me that Kizer isn't ready...
I won't lie, I expected improvements also...and apparently Jackson saw some improvement that I didn't...but I think it was obvious to everyone Kizer wasn't going to be ready. I don't think anyone thought he was at any point...however, the alternative was another year of crap utilizing back up caliber QBs. So, I think everyone in that building agreed, playing time would accelerate Kizer's growth, even if the first half of the year was a throw away in doing so. I think this team will be better when: 1) Myles Garrett and Jamie Collins return = better field postion 2) They find a replacement for Kenny Britt as a starting WR, even when he isn't dropping balls, he bails on routes not designed for him way too early in the route, which doesn't open up other routes. 3) The speed of the game starts to slow down for Kizer, the only way that happens is playing. Once the clock is in time in his head and the score board, the timing will get better. This is my unprofessional opinion...
Does anybody doubt that Josh McCown will just destroy us this week? I'm sure he had this one circled... The Browns were gonna try to develope a young QB this year no matter what...You can see how they set this up, to just stick with the rookie, even if he struggles mightily.. There is no experienced veteran to turn to. No real pressure from the fan base to go to #2 guy, since he's never won an NFL game either. lol! Interesting way to go about it...I guess they figure, "what's one more year of hell for our fans?"...Would hate to have a pesky "good" QB around, messing up the works.
As I was leaving a bar on Lexington and 48th in midtown Manhattan, 2 Browns fans walked by. Both dudes were hammered but one more so than the other, and I thought... man, you 2 guys really need to be in that state.
Honestly TD, Josh McCown is riding his greatest winning output since 2013 at 2-2...You have to go back to 2008 for the last time he won two games in a row, like he has with the Jets. For the record, in his career, he has NEVER won 3 games in a row. 2016 ~ 0-5 2015 ~ 1-7 2014 ~ 1-10 2013 ~ 3-5 I believe Josh McCown is running on borrowed time. If Myles Garrett returns this week, it wouldn't surprise me if McCown did something that put him out of the game early. I am still going with a Browns victory on Sunday..Thus far, the Jets are 2-2, 2-0 at home and 0-2 on the road...This is still a team that isn't very good, but neither are the Dolphins and Jaguars...Now they are running into another bad team in the Browns, but on the road. I just hope this fan base has enough left in the tank to show up on Sunday to disrupt their offense.
Do you really believe that? Sounds like a coach tryin to cover his ass to me...I honestly thought Sunday was Kizer's worst performance. We couldn't move the ball. Not sure what Hue liked about that.... I
You can put all the memes you want to, I could care less...but stop crediting me with quotes that I wrote from others...
Well Irish, I'd like to think we could hang with the Jets...I'd like to think that, but I thought we could hang with Baltimore, Indy and Cincy, and you know that story. McCown is probably the best QB we've faced since Ben...He does have a knack for getting hit hard though. If we do get him, I'm sure we'll get flagged for it.
I mean, they're gifs, so... Also, you do realize how pathetic you sound threatening to report me and then calling me the whiny one? I also particularly enjoyed this one: Incoming gif (not meme): FWIW... that's also how I picture you screaming at your TV every Sunday when DeShone Kizer predictably flames out.
Ok, I stand corrected, I'm 46 and have no idea what the difference is between a meme and a gif...you can sue me now or later... Again, I don't care how many "pictures" whether moving or otherwise you put on here...but stop using a quote, crediting me for it if I didn't say it. Pretty simple request.
I'm just not ready to let this one go just yet. Really interested to know what that means. Doubt a 1-19 head coach? Demand that a QB who's played worse than any QB of the past decade be benched or show dramatic improvement?
No, the constant mocking...again, I will live with the mocking...but not the mis-quoting. I am human though, the constant immaturity gets under my skin.
The mocking? Of... you? Kizer? Whom am I mocking? Are the gifs upsetting you? So because I attributed a quote to you that you jammed into a massive, ramble-on paragraph and made absolutely no attempt to break out as anyone else's... and used it to affirm you own belief ... that's a repeat offense? Worthy of banishment? Harming your delicate sensibilities? You're not mad at me. You're mad at DeShone Kizer for being so horrendously bad that there is no excuse for him. And you're mad because you wanted to believe. I get it - I went through that process Week 3 against the Colts. Once you accept it, it gets better. Bring it in, big fella.
