Just completed... Final Browns mock...I won't mention all the trades, but after the first 3 picks, I moved around quite a bit, and acquired a few young veteran players as well. 1.1 SAM DARNOLD, QB - USC : This pick was based more on what I think Browns will do...My preference, still Mayfield, though I can live with Darnold... 1.4 BRADLEY CHUBB, DE - N.C. STATE: The notion of building a really scary D-line just too powerful for me to pass up... 2.1 DERRIUS GUICE, RB - LSU - Browns get stud RB anyway 2.15 COURTLAND SUTTON, WR - SMU- Almost took him at 2(1), so gotta love getting him here after a tradedown from 2(4). First of many trades.. 2.32 BRIAN O'NEILL, OT - PITT - Got fortunate here. Was holding my breath. 3.21 ANTHONY AVERETT, CB - ALABAMA - Dorsey loves speed and Anthony brings it...I was ready to select him at 3(1), then moved down after receiving offer from Denver. Was stoked he was still on the board when I finally got to pick. 4.10 ARMANI WATTS, S - TEXAS A&M - I have him projected as 2nd/3rd rounder...Got sniped on Kyzir White, but had this guy ranked right under him. Might be a better fit anyway... 5.3 P.J. HALL, DT - SAM HOUSTON ST.- Physical freak. Quickly rising up draft boards. Private workout with Cleveland last week..310 pounder with a 38” vertical and a 4.73 in the 40! Also 36 reps on the bench...Super sleeper right here. 6.11 FOLORUNSO FATUKASI, DT - UCONN - A monster. Browns interior d-line rotation looking strong. Pur value pick. Another guy I expect to be long gone by this point in the draft. 6.38 KYLIE FITTS, EDGE - UTAH - I’m looking to replace Nate Orchard on our roster, and this is my guy...I’ve actually seen him compared toNate. Let’s hope he can be better... 6.43 TYLER CONKLIN, TE- CMU - Gotta love those ex basketball playing TE’s from the MAC... Acquired via trades: CB - RONALD DARBY (Phi) (deal involved 5th rd, 2019 3rd and Derrick Kindred) - Stud NFL CB. Lock him in as starter. EDGE- JOHN SIMON (Ind) (deal involved 2019 7th) CB- BRENDON LANGLEY (Den) - I drafted him to Cleveland last year. Still high on this guy. TE- JEFF HEUERMAN (Den) - Buckeye coming back home... I really like the look of our new secondary: LCB: RONALD DARBY SS JABRIL PEPPERS FS DAMARIUS RANDALL RCB: E.J. GAINES NCB: T.J. CURRIE Competing for playing time: Anthony Averett, Armani Watts, Brien Boddy-Calhoun With Garrett and Chubb bringing pressure up front, this defense could be special...
The ONLY thing for me, to make that draft better is Baker Mayfield at #1...That is the ONLY thing I would change...LOVE it!! I honestly couldn't ask for anything better than that! And I cut it off at pick 4.10.
Was this the L4SN annual mock draft? Wondering who New York took at #2 (assuming they kept the pick). Still nine days out, but the general consensus seems to go: 1 (CLE): Darnold 2 (NYG): Chubb 3 (NYJ): Mayfield I don't dislike the pick of Chubb at #4, just seems unlikely the Browns get him. Personally, I'd take Ward or Barkley there but agree with @IrishDawg42 ... the only think to make this a better draft is Mayfield at #1. And you're right, projecting what the Browns will do versus what we want them to do would seem to favor Darnold there.
Man... I know it's not Dorsey's norm, but not only would I take Guice at #33 every single time, but I'd move up into the tail end of R1 to get him if he starts falling. Dude's a beast.
It was L4SN main mock...Giants took Rosen, then NYJ took Mayfield...Allen went 6th to Buffalo after a move up.
Took you off ignore, just because.......Let me guess...Now that we have Darby, he's really not that good, right?
Basically the confusing posts where my friends were arguing with him, but I couldn't see it, was just as annoying...
Update: since blocking #showstopper and #beachbum, I'm down 17 pounds (4" off my waist), I'm exercising regularly and drinking more water, plus sleeping 9+ hours a night. #TrollFreeLife
I finally figured it out...and it's so obvious, I'm an idiot.... WHAT WOULD SASHI DO? I like the new avatar SAS. And when we win the Super Bowl in a couple years, I promise not to forget Sashi Brown played a big part in this....
No it’s cause 1st round talent is not dropping to the 2nd round...Darby very solid DB...the Browns would love to have him
I'm looking at the Browns roster right now. As it stands pre-draft, I don't see why this couldn't easily be an 8 win team. Taylor makes all the difference. He's NEVER had the arsenal of weapons like the Browns have for him. If Dorsey has the kind of draft we are all expecting, the Browns should be in the playoff hunt this season. There, I said it. A winning season is expected as far as I'm concerned...The only reason people won't really be considering the Browns a playoff contender, is because of the stigma the last 20 years has created. Nobody can get 1-31 out of their head either (understandibly), but I think those guys in the lockerroom get that this team just hasn't had a quarterback on the roster capable of winning the last two years....When this group hits the field and starts gaining confidence, it's gonna be fun to watch... (i suppose now the smart thing to do would be to put stopper back on ignore)
I appreciate your excitement, and I’ve wanted Taylor for a couple of years now. I don’t have any illusions of a 4000 yard 30 TD season coming off of his arm, but I do expect 3000 and 20 TD. More importantly, fewer than 12 turnovers. He doesn’t have to make the air sizzle, he just needs to not f@*k it up. Let the D catch a rest, and give them a reason to hustle.
The only reason I am subdued is that it takes time to gel. With the NFL's off season rules, that just doesn't seem to happen until the games are actually being played. If it were 1992, then I would agree with a full off season of workouts. It's going to be difficult to compete with all the roster turnover early on. Like I said, I agree with you IF they can somehow be 4-4 at the half way mark, then they need to avoid too many injuries. This team is still in rebuild. The backups have been upgraded by Dorsey, but it isn't a finished product.
