You asked me why I had the opinion of Darnold and Allen at the top. I gave you the reasons of the lead up to this point (name connections) and the attendance of the pro day. You disagreed with me for the reasons that you have repeatedly stated, to which I have repeatedly agreed that they are legitimate. I disagree with the idea that you don't send at least one of the top office people on that trip if you are considering that player to be the #1 overall pick and potential face of the franchise. There was never an argument, other than the one that you still seemingly want to have, lol. We'll know for sure when Cleveland turns in the first card of the night.
As a divisional rival I can't imagine anything that could get me more excited than watching the Ravens give up a 1st round pick, pay Odell 18M per season and then restructure another handful of contracts to pay for it.
Just a quick question but wouldn't you agree that the presence of John Elway, Gary Kubiak and Vance Joseph at Mayfield's pro day would indicate a pretty serious interest?
Just my take, but I think way to much is being read into pro-day attendance. That's why they have private workouts and interviews with these candidates. Plus combine and other outlets...Logistics don't always work out perfectly for every team. Plus, this is all part of the smoke a mirrors. Many times I've heard prospects say they were shocked when a team drafted them because they didn't sense that level of interest. Sometimes teams prefer a less transparent approach.
Actually, I was more pointing out someone else talking about a subject I had previous talked about in one of these threads (2018 NFL Draft | Quarterbacks, I believe). Even going back to organizations Dorsey was with (Green Bay, Seattle) when they took QBs... Seniors or redshirt juniors with a lot of starts.
Pretty sure they missed Kizer's Pro Day last year because they were working him out separately. They missed Trubisky's and Watson's too.
Obviously you don't understand analogies AT ALL... My 15 year old daughter doesn't know anything about cars except that she believes one day it would be fun to drive one... A more accurate analogy would be... If you're buying a USED vehicle online, you would send your expert mechanic to go onsite and look it over with a fine tooth comb before making a decision on whether there are issues that should be easily fixed, some that are more of a project and would require more assets to make it look and act more like a new car. Do I necessarily need to be there at this particular evaluation, or can I use one of the other 5 opportunities that I WILL BE PERSONALLY AT to do the same thing that I would have done at 1 of 6 meetings on purchasing the USED car. These QBs are not shiny and new...They have had high school programs that have used them more heavily than any other program moving forward, and in many cases, improperly. They have had college programs that have used them extensively, but the hope is they have been used properly. So, NO, I don't think you know what the answer is, because you don't even understand yourself...
I don't doubt they have serious interest...I also have shown that they didn't have anything better to do on Mayfield's pro day. In fact the Broncos have done very little by way of veterans this entire off season.. What the Browns have done with veterans is apples and oranges, which is why the Broncos as an example is a non element.
To be forthcoming, Sashi missed a LOT of pro days. That is an example of someone who gave very little credence to the pro day principle in general. I don't think Dorsey is of that mind set at all..It was the circumstance of timing with the start of the new league year, which is what I have been saying.
No my idea was an amateur vs a veteran who has actually done it...not that hard but whatever you think....just know Mayfield will not be the #1 pick and as stated the Browns would be the only organization to take him....therefore thats why people say well thats why they are the Browns
I have Darnold labelled as a bust and Cleveland as the worst possible situation for Allen if Tyrod isn't starting over him, through hell or high water, for a year +. So ya don't think of me as a hater if I start saying things next season.
Yes and your analogy of an amateur (15 year old girl) evaluating a car vs a professional scout evaluating a college prospect is STUPID. Are you seriously trying to defend the fact that a 15 year old girl's knowledge vs. a 47 year old man that has purchased upwards of 15 or so vehicles is the same as: A professional scout WHO DOES THIS EVERY DAY OF HIS WORKING LIFE, vs. the knowledge of the GM and/or Coach on the same issues revolving around a prospect.. IS similar in any way???? The GM PAYS these scouts for their knowledge in evaluating, they aren't amateur's. THEY ARE VETERAN PROFESSIONALS. Sams right, you are a waste of time...
OK, button pressed by the last guy who actually read and sometimes tried to reason with him...how long before I start feeling like Carlton?
For me, it was instantaneous. Since Friday, I've lost 12 pounds (four inches off the waist), I'm sleeping better, food tastes better, and there seems to be a theme song that plays when I walk around now. It's magical.
I think if there is anything that is played up too much it's the smoke and mirrors part. Yes, I"m sure there is some subterfuge here and there but these guys can't afford to waste time at pro days. And using the Broncos big-wigs as an example they only attended two pro days - Mayfield and Rosen. And they already coached Mayfield at the Senior Bowl so it's not as if they haven't seen the kid. The Steelers are one of the more obvious teams out there. When Colbert and Tomlin take a kid out to dinner, you know they are very interested. They don't seem to buy into the need for all the smoke and mirrors.
