...And here's Jimmy Haslam chatting it up with Sam Darnolds' parents...I thought THAT was the most interesting image from the USC pro day...
All I see is your comments but it's not hard to figure out what you're responding to. I have the subject matter and then I just think of the dumbest take a human being could muster on the subject and it fills in the blank.
A new high (low?) take of his was Mayfield being a “major” character concern for grabbing his crotch and mouthing ‘f**k you’ to opponents who cheap-shot him throughout a game. But also totally cool with Jameis Winston and his multiple rapes.
OK so let's assume there isn't consensus on "the guy" for QB. IMO before they start they have to have decided "if" taking a QB is job 1 and if so are they willing to have that choice dictated to them, or are they going to agree to take their QB at #1, and BPA at #4. Without naming who, are they in agreement on that as their overiding priority? If not, then I am hugely dissapointed, and I also don't believe Dorsey is foolish enough to do that. His staying or going is predicated on getting "the QB". Secondarily, they are still going to get one of the top 2 guys after they pick at QB, since the Jets are clearly going QB. I don't see any upside to waiting, and plenty of second guessing if they don't. They may get their choice of all the BPAs if the Giants decide it's their one chance to pick high enough to get their heir apparent to Eli. What we "know for sure" is we will get one of the top players for sure, whether it's #1 or #4. I guess if you are prepared to believe Taylor is the answer for more than a year, then you could go for two of the BPAs, and hope you can move into position again next year, if there's a QB you love. Again that's the "wait til next year" approach, and I know I am not interested in another year of "building", when we have earned through great suffering the top spot, and thanks to Sashi not caving for McCarren, we have the nearly unprecedented luxury of getting two of the top 4 picks. It's the QB Lebowski, it's the QB. It's not time to be greedy. Most years I'd be happy to get one Top Guy in round 1, a accomplishment we have failed more times than succeeded, and now you are thinking of forgoing "your choice" at QB to hope we choose correctly twice on BPA.......? We have a lot of picks with which to work but only one of them allows us to "choose" our QB. Don't get cute, get the QB
As for Dorsey. Yeah, he's been confident and a little arrogant, which is refreshing coming from a Browns GM, but it doesn't mean much. On the other hand his move on Taylor, spoke volumes to me. He wasn't going to wait and have his "veteran QB" dictated to him, and I believe we will see the same approach in the draft. He made the Browns a landing spot for Free Agents with the moves he made, and set the QB carousel in motion at a frenetic speed. He just doesn't seem like the guy to sit and wait for things to develope. He has the capital and he's going to make some noise. I think he also knows that, given the assets he was handed, he is going to be "the guy responsible" for this team's success or failure, starting now. Consensus if nice, but somebody has to make the call, and I don't believe Dorsey understands it any other way. He will make the call, and instruct everyone that it was "their choice" as a team. If Hue starts going backdoor on him, Hue will be gone, and good riddance. If he puts his oars in the water and pulls with the rest of the staff, we may be on our way.
BTW has anyone been paying attention to the cat fight in New England? The Brady Belichek partnership appears to be disintegrating. Some have pointed to the Garrapalo trade as the point of seperation between Kraft and Bill. That trade always seemed "off" to me, and then barring Tom's trainer from the facility, and sitting Butler............???? Is the dynasty dead? Gronk considering retirement, losing their LT at virtually even contracts (rumor). Weird stuff going on in NE.
Pretty sharp deviation from his December stance of, "If Cleveland holds the No. 1 pick, I'm returning to school."
Let's pause to appreciate this possibility for a moment. The Browns just shipped a young, prototype QB with plus-athleticism and enough arm away. Why go straight back to that well with Darnold (aka Kizer 2.0)? Instead, take that deal and never look back. #2, #4, #33, #34, #35, #64 = 6,360 points That's 158.9% of the best possible draft (7 picks, no trades). Or, to put it another way, #34 + #35 + #64 = 1,380... so if you had a willing trade partner, you could trade all the way up to #9 overall. #2, #4, #9, and #33 would be some pretty damn good players. #2 - Baker Mayfield, QB #4 - Saquon Barkley, RB #9 - Roquan Smith, LB #33 - Sam Hubbard, DE
You mean the made up statement for click mongers...Never believe what is written in December. If he actually HEARD this conversation, well then, that's a different story. I still want Mayfield...
