This was EXACTLY what I was trying to say earlier...Just because Coleman has been a disappointment at RT, doesn't mean he can't play LT. They are two totally different things..
I keep thinking he'll be the LT, but everything I've seen/read pegs him as the starter at RT. It makes sense because Shon Coleman was not good there, but the hole at LT has to be fixed and Donald Stephenson might not be the answer. If Hubbard is indeed slated for the RT spot, then it's Stephenson as a bridge to a second-round pick rookie who'll take over eventually (maybe win the job outright in camp, who knows).
Joe Thomas has been publicly saying Coleman is ready to play "his natural position of LT"...Don't be shocked when it's him...
Just going to throw this name out there (because it hasn't been discussed) at #4: Tremaine Edmunds Take a look at the depth chart: Where's the biggest issue? Add to that lineup a huge, fast, rangy linebacker who's barely scratching the surface of his potential (19 years old) that can go sideline to sideline easily but who has the size of an edge rusher (and who posted 30.5 TFLs and 10.0 sacks in two seasons). Who says no? Edmunds is being mocked as early as #8 (Chicago) but mostly at #9 and #10 (San Francisco and Oakland). What's the difference in a few draft slots if he's the All Pro potential player most scouts believe him to be?
Also what a disappointing FA period so far for the Browns....we heard all kinds of names from Cousins, Fuller, Tru Johnson, Solder, P Brown and Sherman w all kinds of $ to make a splash....are people upset w the FA period so far?
my only sore point on the FA so far, is why did we feel it necessary to help Bill Belichek and the Patriots? Is it true that BB is ready to leave NE and let Brady prove he was the reason they won on his own? Softening him up for a return to Cleveland if Hue craps the bed with all the new talent at his disposal. I've hated BB since he benched Bernie, when our backup was in the hospital and we were in first place. Dick! Boy, Glad I'm over that, but Free Agency wise, I'm pretty good otherwise.
Who could forget when he benched Bernie? I believe he called it "diminishing skills". I was upset about the way the Browns handled that whole thing. They signed Bernie to a big contract extension, and then he was gone a week later. The thing is, after a season or so, it was evident BB was correct about Kosar, painful as it was to admit. Bernie never was a starter again....I had mixed feelings about Belichick when he was Browns coach. It was obvious that he was consumed with his mission. It was clear that players respected him for his willingness to pretty much treat everyone the same. The best players were going to play, regardless of draft status, or what had happened previously. I knew he was REALLY good at defense. He was right about Bernie. But he was a total a--hole at every presser he ever did. A shtick he still carries to this day. And I still hate it....The team fired Belichick AFTER they announced they were going to Baltimore, So I've always considered that a Ravens move, not a Browns move. At least, that's what I say when somebody tries to remind me that the Browns fired him... If the Pats called today and said they would trade us Bill Belichick for Hue + #1 overall, are ya taking that?
Are you kidding me? Did stopper swipe SAS keyboard? You do realize he completely took his defender out of the play, only to have Kizer step out of the pocket because of the pressure from the left side...then held the ball WAY too long. You are really blaming Coleman for this one? I'm sure there are better examples than this you could use.
Well now . . . That puts at least one QB needy team ahead of the Browns' #4 pick! The question now becomes who are their targets?
