Browns signed OT Donald Stephenson, formerly of the Broncos, to a one-year, $2.5 million contract.

Stephenson was a disaster in limited action last season, earning negative grades from PFF in both pass protection and run-blocking over 303 snaps between right and left tackle. He wouldn't be much of an upgrade on Shon Coleman, who is coming off a similarly dreadful year at right tackle.

Browns signed DE Chris Smith, formerly of the Bengals, to a three-year, $14 million contract.

After three years of light use in Jacksonville, Smith played a career-high 401 snaps last season, notching three sacks. Smith tested as an athletic freak in 2014, and the Browns are betting he will continue to tap into it after finally being given the opportunity last year. Smith turned 26 in February. He's an expensive but intriguing flier for a team that can afford it.

Man, you make this way too much work...I've gone back 5 pages looking for SASs tweet explaining your post..I STILL don't know what you are talking about.

Is it pertaining to Trumaine Johnson?

So, basically, his first visit was set up with the Browns...and he basically TOLD the others that were vying for his services..talk to my agent, I'm going to Cleveland. Which in turn lit the candle and a team other than the Browns (Jets) stepped up and offered what his agent wanted and meeting with Browns cancelled. Does that seem to be what happened...and how often does this happen all around the league every where?

I'll be honest, this was one of the moves I really wanted to see happen.

I think this non-move raises the need of CB to very high in the draft.

Browns are signing RB Carlos Hyde to a 3 year deal, worth north of $15M, $6M of it in 2018 according to Ian Rappaport

The only ones left I care anything about are Nate Solder and I think we should make a stupid bid on Fuller just to screw the Bears

I must be in tune with Dorsey on at least some level...the GM exercise we are doing on L4SN I signed Jarvis Landry ($17M) and Carlos Hyde ($7.5M) to contracts, and bid pretty high for Nate Solder before bowing out around $15M, he ended up going over $17.75M, which is ridiculous even for an exercise...ALL free agents salaries are ballooned because they are 1 year contracts.

I also went after the CB market eventually getting Malcolm Butler for $14.5M (which was a fair deal I thought)

The "one that got away" was Terrelle Pryor whom I bid on, but TD (bastard) outbid me as the Chargers GM.

I also traded for a QB, just like Dorsey, but in my case it was Nick Foles, for our 3rd and 4th round picks, oh BTW, I also got Vinny Curry in that deal without any additional picks...;)

AND...I signed Case Keenum, but for half the amount he got from the Broncos at $9M. (Bargain basement for this exercise)

I still drafted a QB (Baker Mayfield) and a RB (Saquon Barkley), so if we are truly in tune on a football level, it none of what they have done precludes us from taking either position in the draft. I fully expect both positions to be addressed..I would still love to see Sony Michel in Brown and Orange in 2018.

I would be all about over bidding on Fuller...right now the transition tag is $12.9M and the Bears have plenty of cap space to match. An over bid, in my estimation based on Johnson's deal would be around $14.5M per year. At t he very least, it would force the Bears to match...if they don't we have ourselves a great CB, even if slightly over priced..it won't be an over priced contract as early as next year.

Solder would be a huge get, imho...I mentioned him very early on in the process. Even if Joe sticks around for one more year, Solder has played RT before and this would be the best line in the NFL, for one year anyway.

So does the Hyde signing portend a QB at #1 and then best available at #4 (or trade) and another RB later?
