Any thoughts on Allen Robinson - Jags WR? Gonna be kinda pricey and coming off a torn ACL, but we have the cap room................
It's never happened before, but if there was going to be a year when it did happen, this could be it... I bet if you asked 20 experts to list their QB's in order this year, you'd get 20 different lists...It's all speculation. From what I've seen, most of the talking heads are still looking at Darnold as the #1 guy, if not Allen... I honestly think there's a strong chance the Browns could take Barkley at #1 and get Mayfield at #4...no problem.
I just love these scenarios where the Browns like Mayfield, trade back with a QB-hungry team, 3 QBs go and they still get their guy. I don't think it's worth trading back for that relatively weak package on that risk. I can see them passing on QB at #1 for Barkley or someone but trading back from #1 for only that much to just take a QB with their first selection isn't happening.
I doubt the Colts would trade with the Cardinals with Barkley available. There is also chance the Giants take Barkley. Sure they need to find their next QB but Manning could play for several more years and with rumors of Cousins leaning toward the Vikings then Shurmer might bring in Kennum. Besides if Gettleman (Giants GM) is to be believed they will take BPA and if Barkley is there that is the BPA.
How do you know Mayfield is the #1 preference? In this scenario the Browns are simply taking what is left of the top 4....If I had to guess, I'd say most GM's do see Mayfield as #4....
Fair enough, but if you are going to take a QB first there is no reason to trade back for that package to only get whatever QB is left, ether it was your first option or not.
Well you don't even know what the trade was, so you can doubt the pretend scenario all you want. lol!
There is if you are fine with any of them...Browns could take Barkley #1, then you only gotta be okay with 3 of them.
Seriously, I won't be surprised if the Browns get a deal ahead of time that secures them both the top 2 picks of this draft...Does anybody know Pat Shurmur's thought's on Kizer? I'd really love to incorporate a "Kizer to NY" deal in the next scenario...
"Like I keep saying other teams will add FA's" Like I SAID, the Browns have $109M in cap space Next closest is $19.5M behind us (Jets) 2nd closest is $36M behind us (Colts) 3rd closest is $39M behind us (Buccs) 4th closest is $43M behind us (49ers) 5th/6th closest is $47M behind us (Bears and Texans) At this point we have at least twice as much as all the rest of the teams 7th/8th closest is $60M behind us (Redskins and Vikings) 9th closest is $62M behind us (Titans) 10th closest is $69.9M behind us (Rams) You get the point...We can add MORE quality than the next guy, just by sheer ingenuity in how they structure a deal "Like I keep saying other teams will add draft picks..." The Browns have: #1, #4, #33, #35, #64, #65 The next closest by our #65 is the Jets with #6, #37 and #49 The next closest by our #65 is the Buffalo with #21, #22, #53 and #56 That's it...The only other team to have 2 picks besides the Bills before the Browns get to 4 is the Giants who pick their 2nd player right after our 3rd and right before our 4th. Side note Texans don't have a single pick before we make our 6th.. SO... WE can add MORE players via the draft (especially in the higher percentage rounds) than any other team, and it isn't close... This is a historic off season as far as assets to improve a team are concerned...even moreso than an expansion franchise. The bigger difference is that we already have a base thanks to Sashi Brown to build upon.
I will end this argument real quick....add Watson and Watt and your getting the best Def player in the NFL and a pretty likely ROY franchise QB....what do u think Houst would rather have
Also just cause you have all this cap space doesn't guarantee you get the quality high level FA's....ask Cousins
Point is, there are a couple of teams that will win prospects based on their situation...ala Vikings and Kirk Cousins. These are veterans, despite the 1-31 record EVERYONE is talking about the talent already on the roster to go along with a record amount of cap space and record number of early draft picks. WHOMEVER turns this team around will become legends. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that? We've already signed Patriots' Jamie Collins, whom could easily talk with Nate Solder when we get involved in talks? That would be a big get, especially if Joe leaves. I know you don't like Terrelle Pryor, but the guy had almost 1,000 yards 2 years ago IN CLEVELAND and he wants to come back...he's an upgrade There are plenty of players around the league that respect Gregg Williams, top of that list is Trumaine Johnson I think it is a given that AJ McCarron will be a Brown, I'll be honest, I don't know how I feel about that one. At least he's a veteran in the QB room. IF there is ANY truth to the rumor of a trade for Jarvis Landry, this would be a great veteran off season, before the draft hits. Add a veteran FS, possibly RB and depth defensive players and this is a new team...
