I thought you just pulled a Stopper and said you don't want 5-11, you want playoffs??? NOW you are ok with 5-11? I don't want "value" I want the best player in the draft at #1 overall...that is Saquon Barkley. At #4 I can get the second/third best player in the draft #1 at his position in Fitzpatrick. (Chubbs would be the possible 2nd best) I believe Barkley comes into the league and you have a top 5 RB yearly, I'm not talking about the drop from Barkley to Guice, I'm talking about Barkley to some of the top professional runners in this league. As for Fitz, we are lock stop agreed on him at #4, I can't get out of this draft without him...even if that means a QB at #1 Cousins is proven, ALL rookies are not...this statement has little merit. If you sign Cousins, go out and sign Nate Solder and Jarvis Landry to go with him and you are INSTANTLY a better offense. Whether Solder is at LT replacing a retired Joe Thomas or more likely at RT for a year, then replace Joe Thomas. He won't be slighted by waiting a year for a first ballot HOFer to finish his career. Joe's contract money is replaced by Solder's in 2019 and beyond.
McCarron deal was a fake one with Sashi Brown...hence his dismissal. I'm not so sure Dorsey would see it the same way. Cousins could come down to guaranteed money, it may be closer to $28M, regardless, with the salary cap the way it is rising each year, this would not handicap the team. Smith - A second and future pick AND a QB at #1 overall to take over in 2019, just in case he refuses to sign an extension. IF they trade for him, I try to get him to sign one immediately..before the draft takes place.
Yes, we will see...it will take time to be able to make bold statements...all are debatable at this time.
Whats the hype w Minkah? Hes a solid player but is it his versatility and playing at Bama? He had 60 tackles, 1 Int, 1.5 sacks and 7 PD....Derwin had 84 tackles, 2 Ints, 1 sack and 11 PD...Reid had 94 tackles, 5 Ints, 1 sack and 6 PD and M Allen had 71 tackles, 1 Int, 1 sack and 3 PD
#StatsMeanD*ck Fitzpatrick allowed a 10.1 passer rating on deep balls, whether lined up at corner, safety, or joker. He was one of the top-graded cornerbacks in NCAA, so you know you're getting a premier corner with plus-safety skills. At worst, he's an elite slot corner who can play center-field. There are a lot of good safeties and safety-hybrids in this class... but we have that in Peppers. We need a true 'range' guy to cover the back-end.
Fitz 25/8. Give me my QB at #1 and then, in order of preference, I'll have: Bradley Chubb, Minkah Fitzpatrick, or Denzel Ward there before Saquon.
Since Cleveland has two high picks in the second round, perhaps one of those would be all it takes to get A. Smith... What would you rather give up for Smith, if you had to choose between overall pick #35, or overall pick #63 + future 3rd rounder? One thing about the Chiefs to keep in mind is, they are in a terrible position cap wise. Mahomes isn't the only reason why they are open to trading Smith. He makes a ton of money. They want him off the books, and I seriously doubt they would entertain the idea of trading Smith to an AFC contender...The number of potential landing spots for Alex is probably smaller than people think..
^^^ That said, a team doesn't come out and say they are open to trading a player the caliber of Smith, unless that is their absolute intention. Alex might want to stay in KC, but that is not going to happen. He will be traded. I'm certain of that.
