Yes, I agree there should be a harsh suspension based on lost time to an injury.

Also a suspension if the player is not injured.

You cant say "IF".... fact is, he didn't get up, that's the point. Is the play ok if the guy happened to be 6'6" tall and 250, I say no. A penalty is a penalty and an injury is an injury.

 

The Farabee suspension is more of a, "welcome to the league kid," I'll send you a message early in your career and try to save you from being a repeat offender in the future.

Don't hit a player two or three seconds after the puck is no longer in his possession.

 

A player in the league 5 years with no previous incidents would probably get 2 games.

 

if you look at farabee on his way off the ice he knows he messed up. his head was down and he knew it was a bad hit. hope he learns his lesson next time.

 

This the one way of changing the culture, punish the new guys harshly, that way in another 5-10 years they've already been conditioned.
