Crawford has said in the past that sometimes the goons are the toughest guys to stop sometimes. The reason is that when they fire the puck, they don't really know where it's going to go so it can be tougher to make the save on them.

hahah, every shot a goon takes is like a backhander.

Leeches is the new boss right?

Oshie really pissed me off on that hit. Rupp was doing exactly what I want a player like him doing in the sense that his stick was down and he was going to hit a player as he was plainning on playing the puck. Rupp has to get lower and be mindful of the head, but if Oshie had any sense of where everybody was, he doesn't get hit like that.

I like Oshie, I really dislike Rupp, but I didn't find the hit to be one of the really nasty ones I'm looking to get eliminated from the game because Rupp was only a little sloppy, not reckless imo (how I felt about Bertuzzi's hit on Johnson's head a few years ago). If he lowers the shoulder or leads with the arm a little bit there may not have even been a penalty. I'll have to watch that one again. He hit him in the head and got a game misconduct. I think anything more than a fine is a little goes against precedent.

Don't get me wrong, I would enjoy see him sitting for 10, but I don't think this fits the criteria for the nasty ones they want eliminated because he was trying to play hockey (looking at where the puck was going to be with his stick down, and even followed through on the puck, and he could have hit much harder) more than anything and Oshie doesn't take that hit if he had any clue about where he was.

This one troubles the voices. I'm very interested to see the Leeches take on this.

I haven't heard who the new "Wheel is yet"? I'll go with Lulz until I see or hear something......Sice he got his info from NHL.com....

I thought Quintal is just the fill in, did they say he's getting the nameplate on the desk? I haven't been following. If you read he's the fulltime official boss, that makes sense since he's been a Shanny minion for a while.

I thought Leeches was brought in to eventually replace Shanny and he's been calling videos so I thought he was going to get the sheriff's badge, guess not.

Stephane Quintal and Glen Wesley both picked by the Broonz before the Nordiques took Joe Sakic in the 87 draft. Attaboy Sinden.

  11. there has been no comment about "eventual replacement". i'm not a fan of lennie.

I hadn't read anything about eventual replacements or if they're even considering one, Leetch had more camera and voice time from what I saw, that's why I was guessing Leeches for the permanent spot. For all I know Quintal will be there forever.

Saw a few other angles of the Rupp hit, looks more dangerous than I thought before. He has to start at 2 games I think. He went out of his way to make that contact up high, I didn't think it was nearly as deliberate as I did last night.

I wish Gary used a word that rhymed with 'sad' instead, that would have been more fun.

Gary shouldn't be too sad, he'll be gunning for Daly's job as soon as there's the slightest opening, Gary has to be careful too.

I didn't expect 4 games for Rupp. They really hammered home the interference aspect of the hit. I was pleasantly surprised by that because in real time I didn't think that fell within the time frame that the officials normally call it. *BRAVO* to the new gaurd. I hope that is a sign of calls to come in the future.

I had forgotten that they take into account a defender being engaged with the player that was hit. I think we saw that with Engelland 2 years ago and somebody else, but I don't recall the outcome, only that it was a consideration. In my opinion, Scandella's role takes more of the onus away from Oshie than I put on him after seeing the explanation. I was wrong about Oshie's level of responsibility there and I didn't factor in that Rupp knew a defender was already on him.

I would have butchered that suspension on the light side since I ignored Scandella (or whatever wild player it was) but I'm still surprised that Rupp was hit for 4 games there. I'm happy about it at least.

He really popped him a good one, and it looked like he sure new what he was doing. Thats what got me the most, it seemed like he was trying to lay him out big time. I like a good, hard hit, but it better be done right and that just looked cheap and punkish to me. Least thats how i felt when I first saw it.
