that seems about right i think. pretty consistent for Shanny on this one. 1st time offender in the wrong but not wicked egregious.

    ya i said wicked.

i dig the word "wicked"... and "mad", as in "mad skillz".
i used to use this one: no rest for the wickedly awesome.

  3. i've been remiss. this should have been posted at the start of the thread. it's a bit out of date now, but only requires 2 changes to keep it current.

Bollig spun the wheel and gets to play tonight.
Nothing for the hit on Parise.

I thought it was worse than it was. At the 1:42 mark it looks like he did hit the shoulder before the head.

I wouldn't have cared if he was dinged for it. The puck was gone when contact started. Some of that is on Parise, but it was still high. Not sure how letting that go is making the league anybetter, but I don't think there was precedent set to hammer Bollig on that one. I don't like the decision, but in the context of everything right now, I think it was the right one. Not sure if that makes sense or not.

believe me, i love the big hits in hockey, and neither of these teams mean anything to me personally. as Honey said in "WAoVW?" "VI-O-LENCE!" VI-O-LENCE!" BUT when we are addressing the issue of "cleaning up hockey", which we do here in the Ditch from time to time, and it involves a Bollig-type player vs a "star" and people who claim to care about the game start to clamor for some type of discipline in these situations, then Bollig got off free and clear in this one. even if you take away the variables of 3rd rate player vs star, Bollig's follow-thru with his left arm was indicative of an intentional blow. if he ran into Parise straight up, arms tucked, then i can see how the hit could be perceived as clean. even more damning, is the FACT that he hit Parise in the back of the head. there is no getting around it. period. do you want the game cleaned up or not? if so, then it is clearly obvious that Bollig should consider himself BEYONG LUCKY to not be watching tonite's game from press box or hotel or wherever they watch the games when not playing. Bollig did not have to follow thru with that hit. the puck was long gone and Parise was 100% defenseless. final analysis: Bollig should run out and play MegaBall right now.

I'm so sick of the big contact after the puck is gone. Some of the defenselessness has to be on Parise here though, sometimes goons run guys by accident too and he has to be more aware.
Even if they can definitively see a legal hit, or one not worthy of supplemental discipline, that hit was high enough to make head contact. Eventually they have to start pounding guys in the checkbook on these. He could have gone lower, especially since he was committed to the hit.
    amen.
Parise is worth far more to the league and his respective franchise than Bollig is. The NHL is a business more than a game, and the difference has to be considered.

Bollig has been pretty good when it comes to staying away from the garbage this year, but I was pretty aggravated about that hit. Could have easily been called for a major on that hit and really put his team down...besides taking out a franchise player.

Rinaldo needs 4 plus a playoff game. He won't get that.

  11. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

Id like to see something harsh here too bob. doubt he gets a playoff game but i could see 4. repeat offender does it for me.

  12. Take him. Please. Lay the boom, shanny

    PHT...

  14. Been that long since he's been suspended? Huh. He has curbed his behavior, I'll give him that. He does rile up the opposition and get them off of their game. He draws a lot of penalties, too. however, he also finds his way into the box for stupid, dangerous spontaneity. He's still a Tasmanian devil out there. A spinning top. When he's on the ice, there is always the risk of injury.

Honestly, he didn't raise his elbow to strike him. The guy was shooting and his head was at elbow level. Rinaldo did lunge to make heavy contact, though. Unnecessary contact that did not effect the play other than to knock him on his ass.

I'd say he gets shelved for the rest of the season and maybe another game or two that carries over to the playoffs.

  16. Ok. So Zac got 4.

Now please, PLEASE play McGinn instead of Rosehill. Please.

  17. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

Rosehill w/ the nice goal the other day against the Broonz...something tells me thats not the expectation w/ him though.

  18. You know that saying about the sun and a dog's ass? It applied to Rosehill the other day, Matty.

  19. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins
