i really enjoy the curse of the habs for their ownership of all ontario juniors forever. that said, i think radulov and pax have played well this year. this team has serious holes in it though. and now back to your regularly scheduled broadcast of canucks and the ten year re-tool, brought to you by no-doze.

Sestito to have hearing for boarding?Enstrom

Pittsburgh forward Tom Sestito will have a disciplinary hearing today for his ugly hit on Winnipeg d-man Tobias Enstrom last night, the NHL?s Department of Player Safety announced.

Sestito was given a five minute boarding major and tossed from the contest, which was a testy affair. It was the first rematch between the Jets and Penguins following an equally chippy affair back on Feb. 16, and Pittsburgh actually recalled Sestito ? a notorious tough guy ? from the American League to suit up in Winnipeg.

Sestito left his mark on the game (albeit an ugly one) with a first-period fight against Chris Thorburn and the subsequent hit, which forced Enstrom to the hospital for facial fracture examination.

The 29-year-old has spent a lot of time in the AHL in recent years, so he doesn?t have any recent suspensions to speak of. His last one came back in 2011, as a member of the Flyers.

Per Sportsnet, Sestito will have a phone hearing with the DoPS, as opposed to an in-person.

I wonder who is going to run somebody and get themselves suspended for some postseason time.

Keith's time of year to spear somebody for example.

Rasmus Ristolainen will get a phone hearing for his hit last night that left Jake Guentzdl of the Pens concussed. Rasmus was issued a game misconduct so, effectively was given nearly a 1 game suspension (the hit came ~8 min. into the 1st).

His lack of history and that it looks like he was anticipating a pass that was intercepted mitigates against a suspension. The fact that Guentzel did not have the puck, that he was injured, and that the refs called it as they did, suggests a 2 game suspension.

In the end, I am expecting a 1 game sit down, but I hope no one gets upset if it's zero. If it is two games - well, Buffalo is a small market team. The NHL has double standards, and that's the way it is.

They got the call on the ice, so I don't think he'll be hammered more than a game or 2, despite the injury.

The fact that the pass was intercepted is irrelevant. He was reckless in delivering in what I can only describe as an ass check. JG looks like he gets hurt when his face hits the ice. Risto was in the wrong but it was far from a vicious hit. Worthy of the game misconduct that he got but really nothing more imo.

but can we talk about Crosby's ball tap on O'reilly?

As the owner of two balls, I hate it. Its a POS move and I cant stress that enough. I would have zero problem if he were disciplined for that though we know that will never happen.

    Yes, yes, and yes.
He's just trying to emulate his idol Marchand.

    I think Ristolainen gets 2.

As for discipline, I'm not sure that Rasmus' anticipation would be irrelevant. After all, if the Pen F had the puck, the situation would be different. It was a butt check, so it would be hard for Rasmus to know that the puck was intercepted.

In the end, I think that Rasmus was wrong. He likes to deliver hard hits, and this one got him in trouble. But, he did sit out most of this game and hopefully that serves as a valuable lesson. I won't yelp if he gets to sit against the Leafs, but anything beyond that would be excessive.
