    lol, VandeVelde, that's the name

Played with Toews at UND but now he elbows him in the head...what's up wit dat?

    Important note:
Drafted by the Oilers but they couldn't find a use for him with all that depth. Flyers nearing 200 games, including about 70 meaningful ones with him in the lineup. GO OIL!!!

Would have cost him as much to give him a non concussive flying elbow to the head. What was he thinking?

What I liked the most about that clip was the guy wearing the Vancouver Millionaires sweater behind the bench.

The NHL?s Department of Player Safety suspended Keith indefinitely after he swung his stick striking Coyle in the face and has offered the veteran an in-person hearing in New York, meaning any suspension could be longer than five games and result in Keith missing a portion of the playoffs. An announcement on when a hearing will be held was expected Thursday but the league was still working with the Hawks on logistics, according to a source.

Blackhawks? Duncan Keith to have phone hearing Friday

Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Duncan Keith has waived his right to an in-person hearing with the NHL?s department of player safety for his role in a stick-swinging incident in a game versus the Minnesota Wild Tuesday.

Keith was assessed a 10-minute match penalty in the first period of the Blackhawks? loss to the Wild after he swung his stick into the face of Minnesota forward Charlie Coyle.

Keith?s hearing will take place over the phone on Friday afternoon.

Keith was offered an in-person hearing due to the violent nature of his offence. Here?s how the department of player safety explains the difference between an in-person and phone hearing, via NHL.com:

If the Department of Player Safety determines that any Supplemental Discipline from an infraction will result in five games or less or a fine of more than $5,000, the hearing is conducted by phone.

If the infraction might require a suspension of six games or more, the offending Player is offered the opportunity to an in-person hearing. In this case, the Player remains suspended until the hearing takes place. If the Player waives his right to an in-person hearing, the hearing will be conducted by phone.

The two-time Norris Trophy winner is not considered a repeat offender under the NHL?s disciplinary guidelines, but he has been suspended twice in his career.

Keith was handed a one game suspendion for high-sticking Los Angeles Kings forward Jeff Carter during Game 3 of the Western Conference final in 2013. He also received a five-game suspension as a result of an elbow to the head of Vancouver Canucks forward Daniel Sedin in March of 2012.

Keith has nine goals and 43 points in 66 games this season.

If you were to do that to someone on the street they'd lock you up, what a scam!
