but he doesn't go after the guy who hit him or another player. he slowly skates to the bench and the first person he sees or somewhat sees is wearing a black and white jersey and he aggressively hits him hard from behind. to me he knew what he was doing as the jersey doesn't look like the opposition and even if it was, that hit is still dirty and cheap. blaming his concussion is saying it's ok as his mind was scrambled. sorry. like anything else - you take ownership of your actions. people make choices. he made the wrong one as the hit was aggressive like on purpose and not some bump as if he was drunk and disoriented.

If you want to believe that's the way the system works...

    (But, it doesn't.)

No one here has said one thing in defense of Wideman; I think it's yesterday's news until and if there is any change to his penalty.

If you want to argue that 20 games is too much, I myself think an appeal will bring it down to 15 games and thats only because his rep is good and not that of a cook, carcillo or avery. I just don't seee any defense in this case, kind of looks black and white.

like i stated initially it is 20 games. abuse of an official is not subject to barter. wideman and the player's association appeal has no merit.

After seeing the replays, and knowing Staf as well as most fans, I would not have been surprised if he got off without a suspension. One game? Hell, he's been stealing paychecks from the Jets this year, so it's fair.

Dont see the delay. What could be the hold-up? Are they going to give this guy a break and an excuse?

He won't get 20 games, the ref's still hurt, the nhlpa will flex their muscles.

Woah, good to see gary sticking to his guns, 20 games upheld he's already served 7.

Im with you, Skinny. They want to send a message they had better stick to their guns. I still cant believe Wideman did what he did.

It was a text that he sent that did him in. "Only reason why I'm here is because of the stupid referees and the stupid media". I'm not sure how they got that. I heard burke tonight saying how it was a fast game and hard to avoid someone in your way. Ok brian, put some more grease on that hair buddy.

Latest is there were many texts, and the ref henderson hasn't worked since. No remorse shown by wideman or the flames as an organization. Wideman himself who claims he was concussed from the hit wasn't even checked out. What I'm getting from all of this is that dennis isn't that bright, in the very least he could've just pulled a brady and destroy the phone.

Leafs? Leo Komarov to have hearing after elbow on Ryan McDonagh

The Toronto Maple Leafs forward was given a match penalty for an elbow to the head of New York Rangers captain Ryan McDonagh near the end of the first period in Thursday?s game at the Air Canada Centre.

McDonagh, who remained on the Rangers? bench until the end of the period, recently missed four games due to a concussion suffered when he was sucker punched by Wayne Simmonds.
