It's a shame the bar was set so low for suspensions. I really hate that hit, dumb play, dangerous hit, insert all all other negative comments. He deserves some time to reflect while he gets neither ice time or the NHL paycheck he's been fighting for.

On another note, I really thought Nordstrom was going to be a Kruger-light type, because he was so frail and lanky. I never would have thought he would be a captain (Rockford) and an ornery type. If he doesn't produce offensively like he did in Rockford he won't be around long. If he takes major-worthy penalties late in games he won't be around either. I just hope OEL is 100% sooner rather than later and that Nordstrom feels like a dbag and never does that again.

Not cool. When i see something like that, i really wonder what is going through their minds. He had all day to pick many different possibility's to do something and i think he chose intent to injure... pretty lame.

I've been in Kreider's corner in the past but that was unnecessarily dirty. Would think that Gudbranson wil have a long memory of that play and it will eventually come back around.

doesn't look like it was intentional but it was still bad. Fraser looks like he's in all kinds of trouble w/ the way that he leaves his legs after he goes down. a pretty serious headshot obviously.

the question, to me, is does the league apply the same standard here as with high sticking? the "u must be responsible for your [del]stick[/del] elbows at all times" standard? we shall see.

I could see him get two games, probably because of the injury. There's a lot of plays that look exactly the same but you could tell they're done on purpose, they might want to stick with the flow and keep it consistent.

 

I think the NHL has to make the call whether it's an accident or not or they get into discernment of intent and/or good acting.
