We talked about fear keeping victims quiet for years. For me personally I never talked about any of the attacks on me until I was an adult and I still never spoke to my parents about it. Fear can be a great motivator ...
The number of people in this world that have been abused or somehow sexually assaulted would probably realistically be so high it’s ridiculous. I don’t think everyone that claims to be a victim is a victim and I think a lot can be prevented by being smarter but humans in general...do some really fucked up things to each other.

Your first statement echoes what I think about the numbers too. When you look at this globally it's shocking. I have a friend who lives in South Africa. Years ago he told me about this thing that men were doing ... under the mistaken belief that having sex with a very young child (think infant) would keep them safe from Aids. He told me that he would never let his daughter go outside in public anywhere unless she was guarded. Talk about gender mutilation too ... those (in my opinion) are also a form of sex abuse. I agree with you on your second statement too. The world is full of liars who are defending their own agendas and they make resolving or even understanding this issue even more difficult.
Bullshit. I never said that non religious people cannot be moral. I said that Hollywood in general is composed of immoral people. You should know because you are immoral yourself. As for my views, I'd say that myself and people like me are in the clear majority of people in the world who share a belief in a God and a moral code. This isn't a ridiculous right wing bias. It is a moral belief system.

My biggest issue is when this type of trauma is visited on young adolescents or children. The ones who don't have the power. I don't know if making an example of some of the abusers will be enough to deter the next person from touching a child or not but it's all we have right now. 150 counts of sexual interference and assault should be answered by 150 years in prison without parole.
Yeah There are still places in this world where genital mutilation is a real thing. And where women can’t choose who they have sex with. Child sex rings and sex trafficking is rampant globally at the moment. We live in general civility and it’s easy to forget how scary things are out there. I hope these recent happenings lead to change in Hollywood and the entertainment industry. I’m generally a sceptic so I’m not so sure...but you can hope.
The psychological damage done to young children in these situations is frighteningly sad. My wife has done work with victims of sexual and physical abuse and she’s come home many times in tears and unable to really talk about it for hours because when trauma like that is done to a young mind it can really derail their entire life and alter them mentally forever.
I think it's important for sex victims to speak out but I also think it's important for people to remind themselves that we live in a more protected society than do a lot of humanity and by that reason we have things 'easier' (subject to definition). We have support groups and people who understand, who sympathize and support us when we need it.

Are you serious? He attacks my religion. He calls me a coward. You called religious people hypocrites yourself. And you wonder why I get pissed? I am sorry that your life experiences have soured you on religion. I really am. But for you to question me being a CHristian, is nonsensical. As an arbiter sort of what is said on this or any board you are pretty lacking because you are totally one sided. I totally agree. As a survivor of child rape I can totally appreciate how difficult it is for anyone to put themselves down to a child's level and to try to establish trust in order to help them. There just isn't enough support. How much of this adds to the existing mental health crisis too? How do you help so many when so many others refuse to see the reality of the crisis? There is no glib answer or solution. This is going to take years of deprogramming to make the training or education leading to making healthier choices more prevalent to those who need it.
Fear of what? IF your parents were aware of the man who raped you, they should have done something about it. Rape and sexual abuse has to be condemned and justice done to those who do it. I watched that father in the court in Michigan go after that Olympic "doctor" and imagined what he and his kids went through in that hearing. Thank GOD that the judge in that case didn't have him arrested.

This particular thread is not about Religion im sure there are other post on this board dealing with it and if you all want to go back and forth there all day go for it. Now I have no power to enforce my request but I have no problem going to those who do and asking something to be done. I don't believe that is what he said Jean but I do believe that young children suffer more deeply and more traumatically from sexual abuse than an adult will . Any act perpetrated by an adult onto a child is a massive and patent misuse of trust.
