I don't think Bww was making light of male-directed harassment Ev. I think he was making the point that a higher percentage of these incidents are instigated BY men. I condemn harassment and abuse, no matter what the gender of the victim is.
The tacit suggestion in your question is that men being sexually harassed in the workplace matters less/is more acceptable compared to women because the % is much smaller. This minority doesn't matter somehow? Hopefully thats not what you were getting at buddy. Also, baby, i see you liked bww's comment. I hope you're going to tell me its because you didn't like that movie either..... That wasn't my suggestion at all. The minority definitely matters. My point was more that I think most people wouldn't assume or believe that women can do the same thing as men and abuse their position of power for sex. I think women harassing men is treated far differently than men harassing women. One, it's kinda looked at as impossible my a large percentage of people. Which is wrong. I also think where women who have been harassed are often in fear of coming forward because they will be called a slut, not believed, shunned, retaliated upon, and so on....men are afraid to come forward because it's emasculating and humiliating for a lot of men to admit a woman did that to them. It's kinda an odd telling of the difference between men and women's psyche. Just take a look at teachers sexually assaulting or abusing kids. An older male teacher does it to a young girl.....he's a pervert, sicko, and is rightfully treated as such. This happens even in cases where sex has been consensual. But an older female teacher has sex with an underage male student? There are a lot of men telling each other that they wish they had a teacher like that when they were in school. The way men view sex and the way women view sex, and these scenarios, is drastically different.
For the record, I don't think #MeToo is inclusive to only women. I think that there is far less publicity about men being sexually assaulted by women but the issue most certainly exists.
some accused celebs are saying they didn't do anything wrong and this is a witch hunt. that's my tie in to McCarthyism. Some are guilty. Some are not.
Everton Bears-i'll answer Jean's question. Yes the ones that knew what was going on and turned a blind eye to it should be punished too. Hey, it's like the Nazi's in the concentration camps - they may have not turn the showers on, but they knew what the showers were going to do to the prisoners. they're all guilty. If a parent knew and didn't act so little Mary wouldn't lose her spot on TEAM USA gymnastics - guilty ! I know someone who is a key witness in the Philadelphia Priest abuse case. He went to his parents and he was ignored and beaten by his Dad for accusing a priest of abuse in the mid-80's. Once it came to light the Priest was guilty, the Father of my colleague never apologized to his son for being right and coming forward. How's that for a slap in the face? He, the Dad, should be punished too for ignoring his son when his son begged him to go to the Police about his pedophile Priest who molested hundreds of boys over 5 yrs. My colleague's cousin, was also a victim of the same Priest and didn't come out till others did. Once it hit the media and papers and he testified, he hated being outed as one of the victims and took his own life rather than live in shame. His parents ignored him too and had to live with their son committing suicide over what happened to him and they did nothing about it and were told the Priest was molesting little boys who were alter boys at Church,.
male actor Terry Crews came out as being a victim and he's one big guy. It's not always the little shy women who is getting abused or attacked. men are also victims here.
But there is a label given to an entire group of people called feminism or the feminist movement which do not include all women who advocate sexual and gender equality. What I am saying is the "feminist" movement noted by the media, excludes women who do not believe in abortion, gay issues, and other liberal causes. A woman or a man can believe in equal pay for women and equal rights elsewhere yet be a Christian moral woman. When these "feminists" march in the streets and hold their rallies, they intentionally exclude inviting conservative women.
Yes I am. After retiring I got into high school baseball and travel ball coaching and had a blast doing that. I still help out a friend who is the head coach of a high school team working with his pitchers.
Most people that are accused of something tend to deny it. In the 50's people were accused of simply being communists or having ties to communism.....political affiliation isn't a crime. Sex abuse or assault is a crime.
What Fed did you work at? My daughter works both in the one in Beverly Hills as well as having a group who works for her at the one in San Francisco.
Yeah, you are right. That really surprised me when he came out and told his story. I remember saying at the time that the guy who groped him must have been pretty tough to take a chance at having the shit kicked out of himself because of the size of Crews!
I get your point and where you're coming from. I personally do know women that believe in god and are part of the feminist community. I don't know how many of them are active church going Christians, however. I don't truly believe a woman that is what you would call a true Christian woman (By that I mean someone that believes in the church and it's dogma and tenets...because let's be honest there are a lot of "Christians" that aren't really Christians) can also be a feminist. And I don't mean this as an insult or to start a poop flinging war....this is just my opinion. Christianity, like most religions, has a history of being misogynistic. Men and women aren't equal in the bible....they aren't equal in the church. I don't think most feminists would purposely exclude a religious Christian woman that wanted to step up and help...but I don't believe they openly invite them because you're talking about a completely different view point and lifestyle in many ways. I totally agree a Christian woman can have all the main ideals of feminism....equal pay and so on....but their tie to an archaic belief system that has dabbled in misogyny, racism, murder, and other really unforgivable crimes in it's past is going to represent a problem for many. I would venture to bet that a healthy percentage of feminist are liberals...or at least left of center. And abortion is always going to be a hot topic among the community because there are women that, rightfully, believe their body belongs to them. They aren't, for the great majority, advocating late term abortions or anything of that nature....simply standing for a right to choose. And that is always going to put them at odds with a true Christian or Catholic at the end of the day.
I am not familiar with the Philadelphia Priest case but it sounds horrific. I do know, though, of cases in which young kids were physically abused by nuns, including myself in the 2nd grade. In my class, boys were frequently beaten by the nun for little reason. I remember coming home from school with my legs and butt covered in bruises and welts. My mom asked me what happened and I showed her. When my father got home from work and saw what happened, he took me to the pastor's home and demanded to see the guy. The priest was a very big man and mean as hell. My dad told the priest that if "one of those women of yours (the nuns)", ever touches me again that he was going to that school and beat the hell out of her and then come over and beat the hell out of him. That was an early lesson in life to me and one in which when I had children that I told all three of my kids. Basically if someone in power ever hits them or gropes them, to tell their mom or me and we will see to it that it never happens again. Perhaps, this advice should be driven home to kids more than it does. It is too bad that it needs to be done but parents need to make sure that their kids know not to hide bad things that are leveled at them.
good for you. i'm jealous and envious. I have 20 more years of working if I live that long God willing.
10000% true. and when the boy is 14-17, he's labeled a victim of child abuse when in some cases, I think he knows damn well what he's doing and likes doing it. my question is - why do women go after young to mid age teens ? you can't get a guy your own age, you need to bang a teenager ?
funny on how you guys mentioned a co-worker got breast implants etc. way back in 2000 a former co-worker of mine got a nose job and frankly she needed too. it was as banged up and as crooked as an old muffler or a hockey players nose. so she got a nose job. it looked great. people spoke about it when she came back as she was on leave for a few weeks and some staff didn't know why etc. She came back to work and DENIED SHE HAD A NOSE JOB. she got pissed people were talking about it and she told everyone she was out due to a car accident to her face and head. yeah ok. so she has the surgery and then doesn't want to talk about it ? how's that for a little weird? at a different job a really pretty tall and thin co-worker got implants. it was obvious but people left her alone about it. everyone knew she got them as her chest size changed and basically talked about it among themselves and not her. odd.
EROC East Rutherford Opperations Cash . New York FRB in NJ, who would have thought? San Antonio Tx. Are the two I worked at full time. I also covered vacations at Denver, Memphis, Nashville, Philadelphia, Houston, Little Rock, I didn’t work for the Fed directly, but was a outside contractor who fixed the currency counters,
https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment...harvey-weinstein-broke-silence-065942044.html sorry but does Rose McGowan sound sane here ? She looks like a raving fool. Weinstein now has an email from Ben Affleck stating McGowan told Affleck the sex with Weinstein was consensual. Hmm.
