Mike Holmgren and Tom Heckert. Why? I love that people enjoy blasting me for my opinions so much but for the life of themselves cannot remember them. I grow weary of re-hashing what went wrong in 2012.
This was what I originally quoted from you... They are gone... So how would they contribute to a "similarly dismal 2013 record"? My questions is, what else from 2012 (aside from Weeden, in your opinion) will "contribute to a similarly dismal 2013 record" In your opinon? I wasn't "blasting you", just wondering?
Tom Heckert has a lasting mark on the team, despite not being on site this upcoming season. The players he took, and the players he didn't, obviously play the biggest part in those projections. Basically, his blunders in not addressing a single playmaker at any position in three seasons -- save maybe Josh Gordon -- are going to cost us wins until the new regime is able to add them themselves. I believe there was an all-AFCN thread started around these parts... how many Browns are on it? Joe Thomas (Savage), Alex Mack (Eric Mangini), Joe Haden (on some, not all - Heckert). Who else? That's just against the three teams we face twice a season. Throw in the NFC North (all better teams than us) and the AFC East (half the teams being better than us) and you're looking at an uphill battle.
TJ Ward made it on quite a few of the lists, not to mention M. Schwartz... if you don't see TRich as a playmaker... I don't know what else to say... Was the previous regime an overall failure? Of Course, or they would be the current regime... In case you've missed it, I'll catch you up on all the breaking news that's hit Cleveland (That makes the 2013 team differ from 2012) Lerner out, Haslam in Holmgren out, Banner in Heckert out, Lombardi in (much to my dismay) Shurmur out, Chud in Chilly out, Turner in Jauron out, Horton in Signed: Paul Krugger, Desmond Bryant, David Nelson, also aquired a COP back in Dion Lewis, new Kicker (Shyane Graham) Not to mention they have 7 draft picks in the up coming draft.... That seems to me to be quite a bit of change!!
To me, 950 yards (3.6 YPC), 11 TDs in 15 games (good for 18th in the NFL) doesn't exactly spell "playmaker". His longest run of the season was 32 yards and I think he had only three runs over 20+ all year. Haslam in - unproven owner, possibly a federal criminal Banner in - funny, most people have lampooned this mercilessly; good analytic guy, though Lombardi in - spotty (at best) track record Chud in - unproven head coach, average coordinator Turner in - very savvy move, bodes well for the offense -- especially Richardson Horton in - probably lateral, but with the switch in scheme, expect growing pains Paul Kruger was a part-time starter until this season. Nine total sacks, eight of which came with Terrell Suggs in the lineup. Just one as "the man". Desmond Bryant has only been a career part-time starter and will be switching positions. David Nelson was a starter for one season and posted slightly below average numbers. Is coming off an ACL repair at a position that values speed and quick-cut ability. Dion Lewis is a kick returner. Shayne Graham is a solid kicker (although his worst splits in his career are @Cleveland Stadium). You mention all this turnover, all these unproven faces, and somehow expect that to be greater than consistency -- even mediocre as it was -- of the previous regime? I actually have a ton of faith in Banner and Lombardi. I expect good things down the road. I just don't expect them in 2013.
glad I found this place. I went on cbs the other day and the boards were gone, and I didn't know what happened seeing as i don't get to check them out as much as i would like. GO BROWNS!!!!!
Came over here from CBS. Pissed they did away with the message boards. Lets hope for a better 2013 season! I have a much better feeling this year than years passed. Cheers
welcome Brett .. What was your SN on cBS ? ..yeah they totaly screwed the pooch and themselves . the boards were the only reason posters frequented that place . that and to play fanatsy sports although there football was in the dark ages . they have the best FBB format out there . i am trying to find a place to play baseball next season as i hate to give cBS any bussiness .i hate Yahoo baseball format as its all ROTO daily lineup which i don't like .
Same as here. I didn't post much but I got on alot and read others posts. Looking to be more active here. It was alittle less organized on CBS than here. I like the forums much better than just a "message board" This website seems great so far.
