I'm in a virtual meeting at work, so no better time for post game talk. First, the coordinators deserve a lot of respect and credit for the first month of work. Martindale realized his "send the house" approach wasn't working in week 1 and stopped that bs. He's still blitzed, but it's been more creative than just "put 8 in the box and go". Roman has been killing it with offensive play calling. He adjusted to the Broncos gameplan of stopping the run by throwing all over them, and he did it before half time. Marquise Brown bounced back pretty well after his abismal game last week. That diving TD was a thing of beauty. He needs to have Lamar show him open field juke moves. Brown is currently 6th in total receiving yards and 1st in 20+ yard catches Chuck Clark might be the defensive MVP so far. The guy is a baller and does everything right. Bradley Bozeman is killing it from the center position. He needs to stay there permanently no matter what. Zeitler is also playing very well. The young guys on defense are also playing very well. Odafe Oweh is clearly a late 1st round gem with ridiculous potential. Justin Madubuike playee very well yesterday and Tyus Bowser made his presence know. I still don't think yards is in the top 3 for most important QB stat, but people constantly told me Lamar wasn't a good passer because his passing yards were low. Well, he's #5 in the NFL currently. In fact, he's top 5 in passing AND rushing yards. So much for teams figuring him out. They'll say that, and the injury thing, every year until it's true just to say I told you so. Patrick Queen still sucks. His instincts have been great. His tackling is reminding me of second year Matt Elam, just terrible. The o-line is still a huge concern. If anything stops this offense, it'll be the o-line.
I was on the Bozeman bandwagon when the Ravens drafted him, loved him at Center and was pissed when he wasn't given the reigns as it was given to the turnstile that was Skura..... Now, he is showing what I already knew, the kid can be a beast handling the Line. Oweh played very well but he will be lighter in the wallet after his hit on Teddy, at least 12.5k I imagine. He will learn when to take the big shot and when not to in time though. Queen needs to gain muscle and weight to be more effective as the Mike LB. He is too small and relies far too much on shoulder strikes to try and get people down, which worked fine in College but he is finding out, NFL players are too big and strong for those types of tackles to work consistently. WRAP THE HELL UP PATRICK and go low with your lightweight self. We just need the OL to get healthy, then things will really ramp up as the team heads into a 4 game home stretch.
