I hate trying to judge players when your opponent is playing their ones and most of your ones sit, also you can’t judge your ones when they sit theirs and your opponent plays inferior players.
Idk about Jones. Sure gets beat bad at least once per game it seems like. Better run blocker than pass blocker for sure.
I really think If we’re being objective, Dan Moore and Fautanu might be the best choice for starting tackles. Jones might need a little more seasoning before moving to the left. Not in bust territory yet, but not liking the way it’s trending.
It’s the preseason and if we learned anything from last year, it’s don’t overreact to preseason. However, I’m worried about the offense. Concerns about the defense, many of those are alleviated with Highsmith and Watt playing.
Really don’t like running an outside zone on 3rd and 1. Get north and south and get that damn yard! Don’t go sideways
Wilson is more of a pocket passer now, and needs time to throw. I just read on Steelers Depot that Jones is dealing with an arm injury and had a brace on his arm during the game. This is preseason, why are you playing injured players. What’s that swing tackles name that we drafted last year or the year before…..Stevens I think?? Did Dylan Cook play?
I saw backups in once Wilson left. I would give Broderick some leeway. Possible injury, shitty coaching, out of position come to mind. To define shitty coaching, Meyer is changing everything they were taught since peewee football. The whole team sucked not just Jones. And while I am at it I will put the OC under the bus. Play call on the designed rollout with Fields was telegraphed, even for pre-season it was bush league.
One other thing WTF was that? JV football. the brightest spot was the punter and Fields running, not throwing. Sad, just sad. Oh and our second team DL was trucked.
Thoughts on Broderick Jones. You don't go from being good, to sucking. Injury? Coaching? Strength of punch? Anyone, Beuller? Beuller ?
Elbow injury. Been dealing with it for a few weeks, I believe. He probably wouldn’t have played if Fautanu wasn’t already hurt. He looked rough against Rousseau, who has been greatly improving each season; but the injury makes it understandable.
Broderick doesn't seem like the guy to complain or whine about an injury, I think the elbow is preventing him from punching the DE in the chest.
I don’t know about this season. Our defense is really good but we need the offense to score at least twenty a game. If we can score twenty points in every game I guarantee that we will be playing for a division title. I just don’t know if we can score twenty against anyone.
Ok, looking for continuity in the offense in the game against the lions, sustain a drive I don’t even care if they score just prove to us that you can move the chains consistently!!
I wasn’t a fan of the OC hiring, and hope it pans out. Is Pittsburgh the place that OC/DC come to die? You see players like Hargrave and Dotson going elsewhere and excelling, especially Dotson.
Good start, I know it’s against the 2’s but the 1’s are supposed to beat the 2’s and you want to expect that!! 31 yard run by Patterson is a good sign off the left side.
Holy crap the starters scored a touchdown! Back in the Super Bowl Train lol (sarcasm if not clear) In seriousness, best drive by far they’ve had this preseason. Excellent block by Seamalu on the TD run. Jones looked better on the long pass to Pickens, Wilson accurate and decisive.
It was good running after the wide zone that looked like he picked the wrong hole. Either that or Jones really screwed up, hard to tell on tv tape and didn’t get a replay
