the problem with getting a new gm in habland is he has to speak francais.

He might have sucked at his job too, but I'm a believer that Therrien-Bergevin would and will can anybody that questions their strategery.

He was only there a year, but it's not as if things looked too good last year. Not sure how much foil is or isn't needed on this one.

    It is funny though

Rangers trade derrick brassard and a 7th round pick to the sens for zibanajed and a 2nd round pick in 2018.

Really surprised at the Rags. Brassard wasn't on a bad contract, and Zibanejad is getting a raise next year. I wonder if this had more to do with an extension problem in Ottawa or if the Rags just wanted to get younger...not that Brassard was old.

  6. See, as a Flyers fan, I hate this trade. I really think the Rangers pulled one over on them, even with the upcoming raise

i'm kinda thinking ottawa has money problems. wouldn't be surprised to see that hoffman gets moved too.

Hoffman just got 4 years and 20.75. I'm very surprised they gave him that many pesos.

Ottawa seems more bent on looking like they have money problems than actually experiencing financial woes. If you ask for a list of teams with an internal budget (i.e., a "real" cap vs. the NHL salary cap) then the Sens are the first that come to mind. The Avs are the next team I think about.

Owners and teams can do what they want, but this causes problems. And, it's ironic that neither of these are in non-traditional markets. Ottawa is a small market, but that's always relative and is there really such a thing as small market when the team is in Canada? The currency exchange is going to really pinch, so I give the Sens a bit of a pass for wanting to have a lower cap on expenses.

Denver is not a small market, but the richest owner in sports insists on treating it like it's small market. (Pegula is the second richest, BTW, basketball does not count in my counting.) That's why they traded ROR rather than signing him. It's why the team is a clusterfuck of indecision about Barrie and could actually trade some of their exceptional young F's.

Neither team is ever going to be better than an occasional playoff team with a glimmer of hope for a better future. Fans can latch on to that hope, but they'll always be disappointed since neither team is willing to focus and commit to actually challenge for the Cup.

TM and benning will connect if vesey goes to the sabres.

If Vesey signs with the Sabres is becoming a very big if.

If he signs then someone on the top six could become expendaible - but we could exclude ROR, Eichel, Reinhart, Okposo, and the newly signed Vesey from the list of players that might be moved. Obvious speculation centers around E. Kane.

Vancouver is doing their damnest to resemble the Oil of recent vintage, and Kane is a native son. This fuels speculation of him being dealt to his hometown.

Kane has torpedoed his value and while I am sure that TM would be willing to deal anyone that can help make his team better, he's not going to let go of an asset too cheaply. I just do not expect Kane to be dealt until a year from now - if ever.

Meanwhile, I do not think Vesey will sign with Buffalo. He's probably got the Sabres on his short-list, but he can only sign with one team. I think the whole thing is moot.

I know you don't think too highly of wgr, they were specifically talking about kane. Benning has expressed interest, the only question is the return. The nucks will try to lowball given the fact his situation. The girl in her statement to the police said that everytime he sees her he grabs her by the neck and hurts her. If any video were to ever come out of this just like the ray rice incident his value could really plummet. If the sabres get any clue or headway at all that such a video exists, highly likely since every bar has extensive surveilance equipment these days. The sabres could very likely deal him before it comes out even if it means getting picks and prospects.

TM took a gamble knowing he had issues, big loss if this were to blow up on him.

Any time an elite talent does not work out it's a big loss. 1) I'm not quite ready to write him off; the allegations are not nearly as serious as we've seen in recent cases. 2) This would not be on TM since he gave up so little to get him (& Bogo).

It would really be more of a damn shame than a big blow to Buffalo.

Well, best of luck, seems like the pattern never dies.

  17. skinny123 Guest

The pattern of course the behavioural issues, not TM's moves. Not a big blow, a blow none the less, should be a 30 goal scorer if head screwed on right.

I think we forget that he's only 24. Old enough that "youth" is no longer an excuse. But, young enough that he could grow up still.

Personally I am not expecting the best. However I do not think there's any viable option for the Sabres but to just let this unfold. I do not expect Kane to be moved.

I would definitely keep him if there's no trade value there. Just hope it doesn't turn toxic within the group like in winnipeg.

jim benning is running the show in Vancouver and I highly doubt if he will jump on kane unless it is for waiver wire merchandise and a 5th rounder. the Vesey show continues to amuse me. 19 more days.
