It would appear as though I need to be more careful to add proper emphasis when posting messages. The portion of my earlier message that I felt was most relevant is:
That's why I posted it. It is worthwhile to note that TM does have a history of [del]humping Sakic in deals[/del] doing trades with Sakic.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded goaltender Jonathan Bernier to the Anaheim Ducks for a conditional draft pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.

He wasn't involved in the Anderson trade because he was due a bonus on July 1st and the Ducks didn't want to pay it.

I was thinking about the Canadiens deal with Nashville (PK/Weber) and it seems like all a lot of GM's and coach's do is blow smoke screens around. Bergevien repeatedly claimed to not be shopping PK, but then the big deal happens. In my opinion, that deal didnt happen overnight, it was worked out over time i would bet.

So, just goes to show you cant really put any stock into what certain GM's, if not all, do and say. These guys are great at talking out of the side of their faces.

I know, welcome to the real world Will, especially the high-end sports business world.

I still cant believe the people in Montreal have not taken the heads of the Montreal brain-trust. How Bergevin and Therrien keep their heads is beyond me.

I think most gms are honest, not by choice but out of need to minimize the b.s. they'll have to sort through by lying.

There is lots of bs but I often find the context of the quotes from gms is twisted around more often than not.

Bergevin was playing a game, no doubt about it. He'll pay for it too.

I thought Rutherford would try and keep Lovejoy. I was a bit shocked that he let him hit the market. I thought he was great and a big key defensively to winning the Cup.......

rutherford hates spending money on defense. he'll blow the wad on goalies though.

I'm still fascinated by the habs/preds trade. I think habs fans will forget about Subban fairly quickly.

...especially if Weber puts up points and bury's PPG's. PK was dormant last season.

Weber was selected as a top 4 d-man for team canada, PK got passed over.

I invested in torch, pitchfork, tar, and feather sellers in the Montreal and Edmonton areas.
Things might be okay for a year or two, but I'm taking the under.

PK is a better fit for Laviolette and the type of team they're trying to build.

Last time Montreal picked a coach over a star player, it set the franchise back a decade. I don't think Therrien's shelf life is trustworthy. This is his longest stay at one NHL bench now. Weber's last team was built around the blueline, this one isn't. While he's elite overall, he's not an elite shutdown defender. He gets beat, chases too much contact, and takes too many bad penalties.

  12. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Montreal will be better next year, but more of that will be because of a longer summer, fear for employment future from so many players, and they'll be more stable in net.

  13. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Until the Hab media bombards them with hourly comparisons.

    I meant Lennie.

Weber combined with Price will be tougher to play against than if PK was there. Long term the preds win this one, the habs don't have the horses to win the cup short term. It was better to stay pat and leave well enough alone.

lucas sbiza for sale, he's a defenseman you need on your team. half price, because i'm sure benning will eat half of his salary. jim will take a pick or a prospect and a bottle of scotch.

  17. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

If it's blended 6 month aged Scotch, I'm ready to deal.
