    Makes perfect sense then. Gracias.

Nada ,finally they did something smart, even if they didn't initiate it, I'll take it.

That's a huge win for Leafs fan. That thing was a dumpster fire. Easier to manage Horton than Clarkson.

It was all about the money, cap and business... not about making a roster better, in my opinion. Leafs win. Jackets win.

Some team contacted BUF and started the conversation with "can you believe that I'm contacting you about this player?" GM TM laughed at it and replied that he sure did not expect it. I think there could be a surprising trade pending; Cody Hodgson? He's getting paid about $1MM/Goal so getting a taker would be a surprise. Mike Weber? Teams want D, but he's a pretty bad player. Hmmm...

I'll throw out an extemporaneous idea about what CHI may do, (warning: this means there is absolutely zero to substantiate this. But hell, that puts it on par with most every "rumor" we read). CBJ trades Atkinson or Calvert to the Hawks. You cannot replace Kaner put you can hope to get lucky with a plug in, and CBJ is not done dealing.

Clarkson's contract was frontloaded, so CLB does save some pesos. I still think it was more of an asset management move. Clarkson immediately addresses one of the biggest concerns for the BJs, health. They're screwed because they let healthier guys go and loaded up on injury risks. While Clarkson did get injured recently, he's much better than most of that roster in terms of health. They need to flip some more players too.

Hodgson or Kaleta would be my guess.

Everybody is in play for the Hawks and I've read Atkinson linked to Chicago elsewhere in the gigantic pile of bullshit that I enjoy shifting through so much. As an RFA, it makes sense, Bowman doesn't like paying anything he wasn't losing anyway for rentals.

Unless Chicago dumps Bickell, I don't see them inquiring about Stewart.

I think we all want it. Fans down here can taste it. We're all kind of holding our collective breath - with the way Florida constantly makes close games out of things, it's pretty nerve-wracking. Adding another competent forward was a good move, especially someone with some veteran experience. Defense has been the problem most of all year, but even in games that Luongo stonewalls, the offense can't put goals in.

They're starting to gel, and you can see them picking their shots and setting things up, but it has to happen more consistently, and they have to make it payoff. I think they're very close. Tight race between Boston and Florida, and fucking Philly trying to pull into it, as well. Cats just got done with a pretty tough stretch of schedule - hopefully they can rebound well.

I think Jagr addresses some of the offense. Now it's just a matter of winning the race for the postseason.

I really hope Viola fires the gm for the sake of Panther fans. I think they have the pieces to start moving forward, I don't trust the guy with the keys to pick the right moves to make and players to bet on.

It's like doubling the Brendan Smith's talent and halving the mistakes because he doesn't have to carry the team or even a pair. He's 30 and has a good track record of durability. If there's an opportunity to land him in a package for picks, Jurco, and d prospects, and a bottom half roster player, I do it without hesitation.

Lennie is mainlining caffeine. They're getting it done today. Now that so many dominoes have fallen, they're running around planting flags on shit they made up. I love it. Should be a good weekend. Already some solid action, still shocked Clarkson moved with his whole contract.

Marchand openly pining for Ryder to Boston. and what exactly constitutes tampering?
Ryder actually wouldn't be terrible mostly because it wouldnt cost much. I didn't like Ryder's game when he was here last time around because he couldn't skate, can only imagine its even worse now. Good thing is that he's a righty RW that knows the room and has played for Claude twice already so the transition would be easy.

  14. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Ryder may suck, but he makes sense and you're right about the cost. Lou needs anything he can get.

    Another minor Leafs trade yesterday.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired defenceman T.J. Brennan from Chicago in exchange for forward Spencer Abbott.

  16. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Chicago opening up a spot for dmen. I have no idea what they'll do with Abbott. Rockford getting gutted.
Paliotta should sign soon, and/or Chicago will need a spot if they have to bump a dman down.

On a completely who cares note, my one buddy went to highschool with Abbott.

  18. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

This is the part when you tell a Hawks fan, like me, some interesting random information you learned about Abbot from your buddy.

I'll try to get something from him. I either just got that tidbit, or forgot. Not like he's a memorable player.
