I really like the Elliot trade for his Truculence.
Surprised STL is going all in with Allen.
Guessing Yzerman botched moving Bishop, maybe they hated the offer but with such a limited goalie market I'm surprised they didn't just move one now.

Holland with a perfectly played game of chicken moving that Datsyuk contract out of the way at the last minute. I think he knew he had him the whole time but it might have been influenced by demands and movements elsewhere like the goalie trade and Vanek buyout.
I don't know, but that's a huge win for [del]Stamkos' leverage[/del] Detroit.
Yzerman cringed at that trade.

Not sure what to make of Eller going to the Caps. Doesn't seem like a Trotz player to me. Value was fine.

Not sure what the hell Bergevin is doing loading up on more undersized forwards. Somehow he's managed to get a little smaller without picking up speed...a noble accomplishment.

Bowman said "fuck that" to Shaw's demands afterall. Everybody liked shaw under 2million, nobody wanted him over 3. Hawks are not a better team after the trade but they're better positioned to improve. Went from no 2nds to 3 now. I wonder if they'll use the picks or load up for the 17 draft by flipping them. Can't imagine the scouts were prepared for so many picks...don't want to pull a Sweeney.

 

That Bolland behemoth is troublesome.

Kulikov + #33 for Pysyk +#38 + #39.
looks good on paper for both teams. pretty sure i like Kulikov more than most.

 

I like Pysyk; he's boring so you have to be paying attention. But I like boring d-men.

TM absolutely had to add LHD and I like Kilikov, so it should be a win for both. Let's see what they get at 33.

Apparently, Yzerman can offer Stamkos an 8 year contract while the rest of the NHL can only offer 7. So, Yzerman considers a 'sign and trade' idea, "very interesting".

 

The New York Rangers have acquired defenceman Nick Holden from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a 2017 4th...

 

Leafs acquire Kerby Rychel from Blue Jackets. He was drafted 19th overall in 2013 and has 2 G, 10 A in 37 NHL games...

 

CBJ have acquired defenseman Scott Harrington from the Maple Leafs...

 

I like this for the Murray.

Finally pawned off Rychel. Trying to dump him off for a year. Can't imagine anybody wins much from that trade.

Holden is bad and yet for some reason the voices are telling me this is a very sound move for the Rags. Won't be surprised if a coherent and predictable system allows a player like Holden to be much better.

 

I'm thinking "what's in this for the buyer?" Well, it could be a way to keep AAV down. As it is, I think it's going to take $70-80MM over 7 for any team to get his name on a contract. If an 8 year sign-and-trade resulted in something below a $10MM/year cap hit, then it may be worth giving up an asset.

Otherwise, Stamkos does not have the leverage on this matter. A team will have to get a real benefit for giving up an asset.

 

Another Yzerman high Yzerman pick that was troublesome for him. He should trade all his firsts for picks outside of the top 50...just to be safe.

 

Crazy how quickly the draft flew today.

11th overall Campbell was. Now he fetches a depth prospect.
