  1. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Not sure, definitely top 9 right now.

He's a multi position, all situation player, so it will depend on what they look like in a few months. The knock is his work in puck battles and physical play but I think he fits in a top 6 role on most teams because of his 2 way game. He's still filling out too, so it might be 2 more years before we really have a good read on him.

Carolina is on the way to being really good right around the time they become the Nordiques. Quebec would deserve that after the timing of their departure to Denver.

Tough to like from the Hawks perspective but as bob pointed out, lets wait and see how this shakes out. love how you're on the Vesey wagon now too.

I'm not really on the Vesey wagon. I just can't make sense of letting a guy like Teravainen, on an ELC, go unless it's to sign Schmaltz and/or sign Vesey.

I think part of the reason Paliotta, among other dmen, were traded from the Hawks system was to attract Mike Reilly. That is just my opinion, I can't back that up. I think they have to have something up their sleeve like a major trade or signing a significant player. I'm just having a real tough time making sense of the decision to trade Teravainen instead of buying out Bickell.

Funny, TSN podcast (I have to find the link again) suggested that Bickell had some poor lifestyle choices. I took it as them alluding to a drug problem of sorts, but they weren't specific. It was Canadian, so they might not have the slander liability a station would in the US. Again, they didn't outright say anything about drugs, just skirted around saying there was a significant red flag with Bickell.

when Bowman completes his masterpiece, we'll know.

I should also add, that if Bickell did have a substance problem, they may have just done what many franchises have done just to get rid of something toxic. Even AZ bought out Ribiero when his investigation started. Not sure if we'll ever learn. What is curious is that Carolina hasn't waived him to buy him out. Makes more sense that there was something to rehab (injury or issue) and that it wasn't just a matter of his skill dropping out.

    Goligoski's rights traded to Arizona.

what are the odds that the Goligoski crew spoke w/ the Arizona organization before this deal went down?

Ducks extend Sami Vatanen (4 yrs./$19.5MM). With two really good D prospects plus Hampus Lindholm, the most likely blueliner to get moved is probably Cam Fowler.

This means absolutely nothing, but the sheer volume of chatter points to the Sabres being very eager suitor.

sounds like the start of a bad 80s sitcom. bumbling rotund detective that seems to have job security for no apparent reason.

rather one of the Ducks D and Id be willing to pay more but I wouldnt be upset if they made a move for Kulikov. NHL D are a "luxury" this team should be willing to attempt to acquire.

The Coyotes send prospect Maxim Letunov and a 2017 sixth-rounder to San Jose for 2016 fourth-rounder and 2017 third-rounder.

Maple Leafs have acquired G Frederik Andersen from Anaheim for the 30th pick in the 2016 NHL Draft & a 2nd round pick in 2017.

i like how Nashville gets their original investment back and like how Buffalo has the balls to bank on themselves signing him.

really like Andersen but the future 2nd makes it too much i think.
not a stretch to think that pick will be between 31-40 next year.

I think that if you're going to rebuild then rebuild, they replace kessel's 8M capspace with andersen's 5.25. I would rather have seen them just take the picks this year and then see if they could catch a diamond in the ruff within the organization. This move would've been better in a couple of years after all the other options were satisfied and were ready to make that next step up. This reeks of egos just wanting to start winning much sooner than later. If they sign stamkos, then that's it, this teams complete right now, and they've decided that this will be it, they have all the horses to do it, no more higher picks needed. That would have to mean that marner and nylander have to pan out, and where's the much needed stud at D?

Ah well, it is what it is, looks like they want something much quicker, could be a way of encouraging stamkos to sign.
