I do enjoy all the goofy pointless trivia that fills the morning of deadline day prior to trades being registered. I wonder how fun or painful it is for the production crews to figure out how they're going to fill 4 hours of dead air every deadline morning.

Etc. etc. etc.

Then I caught a few more and thought, "only about 3 years late on this one Kenny".

After watching the Rags stay near the top of the EC after being in the CF or better 3 of the last 4 years, I'm surprised Kenny hangs on to so many prospects still. When they missed on both Suter and Parise, that should have been the sign to shift gears...but I digress.

I think there's probably some blockage with teams waiting to see where a couple of players go - I think a lot of teams are in on Drouin, so the losers will need to act quickly on plans B & C. I think Loui is probably another one that teams are waiting to see if they have a shot.

Otherwise, I think the cap is likely to keep a lid on some deals; there is just too much uncertainty about where the cap will be next year.

TM has to be a breathe of fresh air for teams that were used to dealing with Darcy; in a nutshell Darcy was an asshole and TM is very decisive. Do not be real surprised if he moves a non-expiring contract today. Marcus Foligno is the kind of player that playoff teams want - especially in the WC. The same can be said about Girgensons (the Lion Killer), but he's an RFA and someone I want them to keep for their own playoff runs in the future.

Where will John Michael Lyles end up. A left handed D man who can play the point on the PP. a 3.5 million cap hit and he's played fairly well this year. So Does Detroit take him? Boston? or another contender? I can see him only costing a 2nd maybe a 2nd this year and a 3rd next season. Of course that takes out the Rangers.

Pre lockout II most of the deadlines were slow all morning.

Hamhuis and Russel clogging everything up I think.
I'm willing to blame Sweeney (BOS) or Fletcher (MIN) or Murray (ANA) as well.

Blame Burke and Benning for the slow morning. Lots of gms want to position their pools and cap for the summer, so there will be a couple dozen trades in the last hour.

 

And Yzerman, definitely Yzerman. He's trying to use Drouin to help out this year and upgrade Carle's slot. I really hope he fails.

 

A minor league goalie for a minor league Defenseman. However, this tells me JML is about to go and Robertson will be called up as his replacement. Giving us 4 Rookie Defenseman.

JML may be packaged with Ryan Murphy too. Just a thought.
