Yeah, LA is in tears with Vinnies' 5 goals and 3rd line workload the last few weeks and Schenn's 18+ minutes stabilizing the bottom pair.

Quite the magic trick with 4.15 million retained.

  2. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Seabass and Sweeney rule. That would have been fabulous for 5.25 through 17'
What were they going to give up?

His minutes were way down last night. I don't think Gallant has the patience for him on the top 2 lines, which is where he needs to be to be effective with his shooting ability. There's also a chance that he's going to use his 20g season to push for a bigger raise than he's probably worth so FLA/Tallon may still be looking ot cash him in.

hbob if you dont think this trade severely helped out the flyers recoup over $3.8 mil than i don't know what to tell you. sure vinny is doing well on a 3rd line. he didnt suck that badly and i said all along he never got a fair shake and deserved better. schenn is schenn and gives you what he can. to me the flyers were praying for a miracle and LA answered. It worked out for both teams. No need to be salty about it.

it scares me if we're going on what Rinaldo brought back.

  6. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Maybe they'll get Gudas. Hakstol finally realized this guy is a bucket of bad decisions and brute strength. TB moved forward when they moved him out, same will be said for Gudas, Engelland, etc.

I'm saying it wasn't a miracle or some sort of duping of one gm by another in case that was the direction you were going. It worked out for everybody so far.

It was a trade that addressed needs of 2 clubs. A good gm in Lombardi identified a way to replace Greene's minutes and strengthen up the middle after the loss of Richards, the gm he trained saw the opportunity to get players out of the way that weren't going to be part of the solution moving forward.

Hawks need to acquire Weiss. he owns property in the BigFat head. you guessed it, rent free.

  9. Willie Head Coach Manager News & Notes Vikings

Im waiting (again) to see what magnificent move Holland makes before the deadline.

I wonder if Coloocpolcio is still available (again).

    Need D in the D.

  10. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

i know D is always in need but this year it just seems absurd how in demand it is. Minnesota is going to get to bend someone over this deadline.

  11. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

that would be fun for everyone other than me. i think Sully would like it. Emelin and Gudas can just go toe to toe and suck all over the ice together.

what teams do you guys think are buyers and sellers at the deadline?

  13. If the Hurricanes trade one of their goalies it will be Eddie Lack I would say. There are many reasons I feel this way. 1. Lack may get more since he has a reasonable contract for next season.
    2. Cam Ward Has a proven playoff record
    3. The Canes have a young Goal named Daniel Altshurrel He started the season in the ECHL went 10-3 with a 1.58 GAA and a .941 Save percentage then moved up to the Charlotte Checkers where he is 9-4-2 with a 2.15 GAA and a .929 Save Percentage.

So if the Canes fall out of the playoff race then they will start Justin. If not then he will be either Cam's backup, if they resign Cam, or he will be our starter next season.

Players the Canes may Trade at the deadline, IMO.

    1. Eddie Lack
    2. Ryan Murphy or Michael Jordon
    3. Brad Malone
    4. Eric Staal
    5. Nathan Gerebe
    6. some of our lower talent. Plus we have the Kings 1st round choice this season. if we can get a good young player we may package that with a player

not sure why i gave that a thumbs up. Buff would be a terrible idea. much like the original employment of one Joe Haggerty.

  17. Here are the top 10 teams with the highest cap hit going into the trade deadline

I wouldn't trust those numbers from capfriendly. Because of the rosters, most of those teams will have a very different outlook come the deadline. That's just a projection of one day and not every roster has 23 players on it.

  19. Yes, just like Cap Geek the numbers change daily, it does give a good snapshot of who has trading room or what teams may have to do some major juggling to fit the cap coming up at the trade deadline.

  20. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

It is useful as a reference. During the year it's best to avoid it if using it to speculate on trade scenarios.

The media has gotten away from using because they've been wrong year after year. For example, Team X can call up two prospects at .925mil and then place a player on IR onto LTIR which would allow them to add as much as a million to their cap situation immediately, then they have the addition of LTIR relief on top of it. GMs can make retroactive changes because of injury too.

You can easily find a 2.5 million dollar swing in a day and the sites wouldn't reflect it until later. Also, depending on the contract structure, a 5 million cap hit may only be 3.75 at deadline day.
