I like the trade. I always liked Hagelin with the Rangers. I didn't understand why they traded him. Thought it had to do with their cap. Although he kind of disappeared last season (maybe his worst), I think he can come back and is a better player than the Penz gave up......

Hagelin has speed, but he's expensive and still needs a dman that can spring him who isn't named Letang. Tough to say how much I like this until Rutherford finishes [del]damaging[/del]trading this year.

    Rutherford cant go soon enough.

With Hagelin gone, I'm not sure Murray is going to go nuts in a big trade. He'll probably use Perron's expiring deal to worry about all his RFAs coming up rather than making a big splash for Drouin or something fun. I'm not sure I buy all the rumors, but Murray has to do something with that group.

The Pacific is terrible. WPG, 7th in the central, is only 4pts behind 2nd place SJ.

    Where does Eric Staal go?
Great opportunity for Francis coming up. They can finally turn the page on E Staal and Ward and build a real NHL team again.

Benning is still right in the playoff race. He's talking about Hamhuis and Vrbata as being important. I really thought Hamhuis would have maintained a higher level of play through this contract, he's really dropped off but he's still pretty good. Vrbata will be on teams' radar. I guess it will depend on Henrik's recovery.

Bowman has his hands full trying to move Bickell.

Too bad Hansen isn't a LW...Prust is though.
I wonder if his truculence would take Bickell and his 4mil x2 for his Raymond disaster (3.15 x 2).

That Hartnell contract is a beast of badness as it goes until he's 37 at 4.75 I wonder if Chicago-CLB would consider that. Hartnell is in the dog house but Bickell would be too.

Hartnell to the Hawks would be fun.

If Dealin Don can't sign Eriksson he should move him to Anaheim for one of their young D- Fowler, Lindholm, Vatanen. prospects and picks along w/ Louie to get it done. benefit both teams, Anaheim in the immediate and Broonz in the long run.

i like him right where he's at.

  11. Henrik will be back after the All Star break........the shoulder is OK.........I want Benning to make a BIG trade ......Burrows/Sbiza for a High Draft pick and a Prospect.......to an Eastern Team.

Hamhius will be back after All Star Break........I agree he is not Great BUT Good....and he will really help with Ben Hutton and teach him how to play Defense.....I'm liking Hutton.

Vrbata was very good last year and SUCKS this year......make him Trade bait for sure.

    Vancouver will be very interesting.
Do they sell or go for a playoff berth?

  13. rediiis Guest

benning should sell if he gets return, unfortunately his phone calls do not get returned

nobody wants higgy, burrows, vrbata, hamhuis, sbiza et. al. at the us dollar. they all want loonie discounts.

Is this a cap move? Sekac really doesnt produce much... ( Sekac, 23, has one goal and two assists in 22 games this season. In 91 NHL games with the Montreal Canadiens and Ducks, he has 10 goals and 26 points ) . Well hell, maybe Garbutt didnt either.

  18. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Part of it is cap related. Sekac is a RFA, Garbutt had another year at 900K. If Sekac busts out, he's gone freeing up the contract slot at worst and allows Bowman a little more flexibilty over the center. He's a left wing (they need good ones) with a good ceiling still but he's 0 for 2. Therrien hates him because he doesn't play N-South enough or dump and chase. Tough to say how Bruce couldn't find a spot for him in ANA. Anyway, I'm not expecting a ton from him in Chicago but I'm digging the trade because of how it sets the Hawks up for the summer.

damn you hawks. you had no right trading garbutt without bickell involved. :D
