Spaling and Harrington are just bodies, a #8 d-man and 3rd/4th liner, Kapanen hasn't bloomed as of yet, but the point they dumped the salary and attitude, and can now begin a new chapter.

Joe, yeah it's been obvious that this is the direction the Leafs were going, (or least should go). It's just that after two years - as a Sabres fan - I have become more than weary of the glib use of the t-word. If done correctly it's a sound strategy.

Kessel can be a great player, but he is not one you want to build a team around. Now that the extra pieces are known, this is looking better for the Leafs. It could be one of the elusive good-for-both-team trades. But I was being extremely understated with the outlook for the Leafs this year.

Meanwhile, after the top two, Marner is the player IMO that is most likely to have an impact this year. Let me put it this way, if BUF had gone 3rd I would have been happy if they picked him.

Why the hell do we also have to give an early 2nd to get a late 3rd.

I was wondering that myself :)

I think the sky is the limit for Kessel.

We'll just have to wait and see on Kapanen but I will say everybody was quite happy when he fell to the Pens.
Harrington will be a solid d man in time IMO.
Spaling is just a body but maybe going home will do wonders for him.

The thing that impresses me the most about Pittsburgh is that Ian Cole becomes their most reliable defenseman as of right now.

The next most impressive thing is wondering how they're going to keep plugging in the holes with such a weak system.

I like Rutherford. No wonder Lemieux and Burkle are bailing.

  14. give me Barrett Jackman and shot blocker supreme Meszaros and later days Quincey and Kindl(if thats possible). gives you a good shut down 2nd pair like Stuart and Kronwall used to be. low ball Mike Green and see if he bites, throw 5 or 5.5 at him and backend it. put Ericsson on the 3rd paring where he belongs. this will obviously never happen on Kennys watch but it would solve quite a few problems I see with this lineup.

  15. ummm, try to keep up. greene has been signed for 3 yrs x 6 million.

  16. I just got on here, missed all the action. where did he go?

  17. holy good Lord - we did sign him!! :[

  18. im floored, I really am

  19. I like Green a lot, as long as he doesnt go Sammy like he has so many times that guy will thrive in our offense.wow Kenny gets high marks there, been a long time since I typed that

  20. lol, nice to hear a pro-kenny comment from u on occasion *DRINK*

i just hope this doesn't mean we're done looking for dmen. this team desperately needs a solid defender - something, imo, we don't currently have. hopefully dekeyser will continue to develop into one, but i don't consider kronwall a shutdown guy at all.
