brett, i see the cbj in the playoffs next year with this acquisition and players coming back from an injury plagued season.

I didn't want to be the first one to start that talk so soon after a deal but. Whats the over under on points? New team high? Previous high is only 93 I believe.

Saad is an all situation player, and he's fast, smart, and strong. I don't think he'll put up dynamic numbers, as he's not a great scorer, that's not what he is. While he might be a little jumpy the first half of next year with a new contract in a new city, he'll settle out into a very solid player.

He scored about the same rate on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd line and he's outstanding defensively. CLB's wings are not very good defenders as a group, he gives them a ton of flexibility. If Johansen falls back into being a lazy slack ass, Saad will carry his ass and push him too.

I'm not sure if Saad is a top line player on all teams, but he's close and he's a legitimate all situation top 6. CLB got the best player in the trade without losing anything from their top 6 or top 4. For people that look at just goals and assists, he's might underwhelm. He's a very good player to watch away from the puck, he makes consistently good decisions.

  5. I look at Saad as being as Andrew Ladd type of player. A better scorer than Ladd but the same type of player

hahah, I wonder if he heard it from a source or a message board.

We just got fleeced if the details are what I believe. Is this impatience or too much patience followed by impatience?

From what I've heard I had the same thought. It looks like PIT gave a lot less than expected.

Is that a Buddhist quote or something? *HIGH*

  12. Harington, Kapanen and a draft pick for Kessel

Kessel to the Pens for Kapanen, Harrington and a pick and we retain salary? If this is the true details then wtf.

My first reaction is in line with yours.

That's a very underwhelming return for such a prolific scorer, even if it's Phil the Thrill.

Kap was obviously the key for TOR. If the pick is a first then this could work out for them long term, but it looks like the Leafs are shooting for the 16-17 season.

Leafs are obviously tanking this year even if they aren't trying to tank for picks or anything. This year will be to give player experience and sort through who to keep in seasons going forward while giving prospects time to get ready. Marner is at least a year away from joining, as is likely Nylander. Brown may get a shot this year to prove his worth as well as a couple other guys, maybe defencemen, and Frattin will get another crack at the NHL. There is more but that's most of it.

So it seems the Leafs are playing with $1.2M less cap for the next 7 years.

So, it's now official, (Seguin,Hamilton, Knight) for Kapanen, Harrington and a first. None of the players in the original deal between the leafs and bruins are on their teams they were traded to now.

  20. Add nick Spaling to the list for Kessel and the pick is a 1st rounder
