i think getting rid of Phaneuf would be a score. anything out of Richards would be nice, maybe you could get Ray Lewis' "deer antler spray" for him.

yeah, a bag of tape too lol, a lot easier to buy out richards contract after a year. If they trade kessel for a pick and prospect, you could free up some nice space, then you have this year's pick, plus nylander, rielly, bernier, kadri, gauthier to build on a future.

there are pieces in place there. personally Id keep Kessel, especially if landing ROR. trade Kadri and Phaneuf and go from there.

Mike Richards only gets a shift or two more than a 4th liner would. Phaneuf is a 2nd pair type at worst. That would be horrible for Toronto.

ROR has been exposed now, he does all the stuff fans like but he's going to have the damnest time playing to his next contract because he isn't all that great. I think Toronto would be very happy if they could deal around Bozak for ROR though. 2 overrated centers but Toronto gets the upgrade.

Phaneuf is the biggest issue w/ Toronto. he seems to suck all hope from the Leaf titt. not sure if intangibles is the right word but he is so consistently at the root of terrible and lazy plays. i would trade him for nothing.

Phaneuf is relied on too much, and he's not that player, he should be in the background. They should've offered him a 4 year deal and no more than $5.5M, if he didn't like it, they just could've showed him the door.

Not that familiar with ROR, but from what I've heard, he's more of that all round player, he plays the whole rink.

    He is.
Last year you would have thought he was the olympic love child of Bergeron and Toews, so he was overrated a little bit. By little, I mean cubic ass-tonne.

He's still a very good player but he's not going to carry play in the offesnive zone without a big win and a high skill wing imo.

I'm not sure what else they need to see to realize that Phaneuf needs a simplified game. Trying to have him hit, play physical, carry the offense from the back, AND play the shutdown role is just ridiculous.

Maybe ROR and kessel could be a good combo for years to come, kessel could just worry about scoring 40+ with ROR lifting the weight defensively.

Lupus, JVR, and Kessel allows for all sorts of different looks. One of those 3 should allow for a real for a real good line. Maybe he can do something to make Clarkson not suck.

The problem with ROR, besides outbidding to land him, is going to be his next contract.

Lupus should be gone soon hopefully, and nothing could inject life into clarkson, he's just a bonehead, I can't see him back next year. JVR I would keep, I like the idea of freeing up cap space, then using the draft and just sign players that make sense as they're available. This would be a good alternative to a total firesale and 10 year garth-lowe type rebuild.

i really wish Colorado never matched Feaster's offer sheet for ROR and Calgary would've been forced to put him on waivers. Not like an NHL GM should know the rules on massive deals or anything.

Woah, just went through ROR's hockey db, 2 pim's in 80 games, wtf, that's about as lady byng as it get's.

I'm waiting for Murray (ana) to snag Lombardi's top target for a dman and I'm waiting for Wilson to snag the forward Murray wants.

i hope all of that happens. the California rivalries are great.
and it all circles back to the Michelle Philips

good point. you won't be seeing Kessel lifting weights, defensively... or otherwise. unless, that weight is a quarter pounder w/ cheese.

and that (1) penalty wasn't even his. he took that one as a kind gesture to his teammate.

I like Bozak. Good player from what I get to see. I don't know how he is defensively? But he's a good skater and scorer. I kind of hoped the Penguins would always try to get him. Unless he has defensive deficiencies........
