Trades and Potential Trades

  1. Also, Ian Cole told Armsrong that if a top 4 role is not there for him that he would like a fresh start. Guess that's what prompted the trade for Bortuzzo.

    Jeremy Rutherford @jprutherford
Army said that Cole indicated if there wasn't a top-four role for him here, he welcomed a fresh start.

    wow, asked for a trade.
I would have thought that would have happened long before.

Great question. I was thinking they grabbed him because they were close to moving Berglund.
Then again, Goc is overdue for an injury so he might have just been insurance.

  4. good call, hoss *WRITE*

  5. bob, maybe Cole asked for a trade a while back but nothing really materialized until now.

It'll be interesting to see where Jokinen fits in immediately but he definitely seems like an insurance policy to me. I expected to see Bergy moved too but time elapsedso I guess not.

Lovejoy is useless. Rutherford needs his head checked after this one... senile much, JR?

So many Coles on the board today. 2 coles moved in one day, I don't know what that means.

Who knows when Cole asked? Makes sense that he may have asked before, agent might have put that out as they probably did a preliminary feeling out about his next contract.

I'm still scratching my head about Jokinen, but if the Blues have a tough time generating offense as they have in the postseason under Hitchcock, he's a useful piece to throw into the mix, especially if they're playing against a Min, Chi, or WPG given their flexible lineups up front. He was cheap so I don't see much downside under the circumstances but I'm really curious in how Hitch would use him.

lovejoy has a nice ring to it, unfortunately the player is not utopia. his name should be changed to hatebiatch.

i will think forever that leopold or his agent made his daughter write that note under duress. she should sue.

  10. This is what I'm really curious about. I don't see him playing above the 4th line as of now.

  11. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

As a Hawks fan, I'm a big proponent of getting him 19 minutes a game.

  12. If that ever happens I'll just give up and depend completely on baseball.

NYR trade prospect Daniel Walcott to TB for a 7th rounder. a few noteworthy things here-

    1) how can teams swing trades right now?
    2) Walcott was chosen by the Rags (5th rnd '14) w/ a pick that was originally TB's before being part of the Callahan/StLouis deal.
    3) i meant to put something up about Daniel Walcott on the prospects thread earlier because hes had a unique journey in his hockey career. He spent a year playing club hockey at Lindenwood University before proving himself good enough to jump to the Q.

  16. rediiis Guest

with new management in edm. i could see multiple trades for young def for wingers that do the same thing.

  17. Catfish Guest

Tim Murray signaled his intent with how he's going to utilize his high-end prospect talent. When the opportunity arises he'll trade quantity for quality. (The WPG trade was 5 for 3 with arguably the best two players moving to BUF. Without question E. Kane was the best talent in the trade.)

So, what does that bode for June 2015? I think it's one of two scenarios: 1) TM lands another elite player in a blockbuster, or 2) he decides to be relatively quiet this year. The pipeline is getting NHL-ready and it may be prudent to assess what's already in the org.

If players like Larsson, Grigorenko, Pysyk, and possibly McCabe establish themselves then their trade value can only be enhanced. Drew Bagnall may be one of the most valuable players in the org. - not for his stats. in Rochester, but for the intel. he can provide the FO, (e.g., Joel Armia is seriously lacking a work ethic.)
