GMJR is desperately trying to move Jack Johnson's $3.25M onto some other team. Hope he is successful.

    What's Backes' salary? He's a GREAT dog person, so that's a plus.

Blues acquire De La Rose from Red Wings
Detroit receives Robby Fabbri from the Blues in the deal

ST. LOUIS - St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Wednesday night that the Blues have acquired forward Jacob de la Rose from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for forward Robby Fabbri.

De la Rose, 24, was originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round (No. 34 overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft. This season, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward has appeared in 16 games with the Red Wings, collecting a goal and three assists.

Overall, de la Rose has dressed in 195 career regular-season games between the Canadiens and Red Wings, totaling 32 points (12 goals, 20 assists) and 71 penalty minutes. In addition, the Arvika, Sweden native captured a gold medal with Team Sweden at the 2018 World Championships.

Fabbri, 23, was originally drafted by the Blues in the first round (No. 21 overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. In four seasons with the Blues, the Mississauga, Ontario native amassed 73 points (32 goals, 41 assists) and 60 penalty minutes in 164 regular-season games. Fabbri also appeared in 30 postseason games with the Blues, including 10 last season when he helped the team capture the 2019 Stanley Cup Championship.

The New Jersey Devils have decided they have to move Taylor Hall. Expect the Oilers to be in the bidding and possibly the Sabres.

I’ll bet that NJ asks for a ton for Hall and they’ll probably get it. Any team that’s in the running would be wise to try to keep him beyond this season and this is why I think Edmonton will be on the outside looking in. I don’t think Hall would sign on long term back in Edmonton.

Buffalo seems like it could be a great fit for Hall. Assets, picks and cap space available for a player that would make them much better immediately.

Either way, Hall could be a rental at $6M.

How does this work, if you get him in Feb, is it a 30 game caphit?

They’d probably have to add conditional comp. to NJ to make this work. They will have a huge amount of cap space come July. But right now the Sabres are playing the cap dance with LTIR moves. They’d have to move out considerable salary now just to make his prorated salary fit this season.

Casey Mittlestadt or even Dylan Cozens would probably be needed just to get the conversation started. Reinhart?

I’d love to have Hall, but I’m having a hard time seeing how it could work.

Yeah, salary is always prorated for the remainder of the season. That’s why so many teams wait for the deadline to make rental purchases. They’re buying them for the postseason and want to dole out as little cash as possible.

With 30 games left, his caphit would be $2,160,000.
