Well, he's a right shot for Detroit.

  3. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Ohhh, it was a 3rd that may turn into a 2nd if they reach the finals.

That's cheap for a guy that could help exploit offense situations/matchups and log decent minutes. Solid value for Detroit, I really wanted to see a 2nd+ to make fun of it.

Good, no real cap concerns for the rest of the year.

Wow, didn't expect that one. I would have thought Cole would have been long gone by now.

Pitt gets addition by subtraction but then they get more subtraction for continually turning over a roster. Blues gain truculence. Would have thought Cole would have been an ideal number 7.

Pens win this trade, by alot. Just keep Cole under watch and keep him away from golf carts.

Blues trade Ian Cole to the Pens for Bortuzzo and 2016 7th

    Beat me to it.

So the 3rd going to NJ for Zidlicky is conditional in that if Detroit makes the conference finals they also give NJ a 5th. If they win the cup then both picks are taken away and replaced with a 2nd.

A condition that seems to kill any lingering Phaneuf rumours.

It's a little ironic that Neuvirth goes to the Garths. He's now going to back up the man he was traded for a year ago. A good move, IMO, by Garth since Halak can and does go down often. They now have decent depth between the pipes.

Is SJ in full sell-mode, or does it just look like that to me? The only thing that surprises me about them this season is that they hung close to a playoff spot for so long. Now they're 5 points out and it appears as though they're ready to shake things up.

I'd expect wholesale changes in the post-season.

  12. Not sure I like acquiring Bortuzzo, don't really see the point since Cole had been playing pretty well lately. I'd think once guys are healthy the top 6 would be Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester, Shattenkirk, Michalek, Jackman, and then Gunnarsson/Lindbohm/Bortuzzo. Not really sure how much ice time he will be getting.

Marleau has NOT been asked to submit a list. Until they give up on Jumbo or Marleau, they aren't quitting.

Agreed. But they are shaking things up and that's needed. I expect they'll overhaul in the summer.

oooohhh, spicy for the Canucks. Conacher.

-to be fair to Lennie, a few of them knew Leopold was going to land in MSP well before today.

Where the hell is Vancouver today? I thought they would have gone big.
Thought Murray might want to put another big stamp on Ottawa too, lots of bodies to move and they're only a few points out of the POs with games in hand.

Maybe, many have been waiting 5 years for the teardown. Wilson has made plenty of very big trades in the past, so until he actually says in public that he's going to rebuild, I'll be skeptical.

  19. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

Ruh roh, STL might make a move to get something good for Berglund afterall.

Armstrong just refuses to leave a good thing alone. Fix it till it's broke Doug.

When's the last time Jokinen could go out on the ice and actually trust his line? He's going to fuck up because he's used to trying to clean up people's mess. Not much to clean up in STL.
