bc he played with giroux and jagr and blossomed. jagr bolted and he regressed. he came back last year, so he had a breakout season at the right time. that's why he got that money. the flyers envisioned 80 pt seasons every damn season.

no way i just let him go for cheap. sorry. with the right teammates he could be a solid player for years. last year was a perfect example of this. no way i let him go for junk or low players.

    He's not tradeable, especially now.

    i guess.

There's bad shit going on behind his back, they have to keep him.

The leafs were stuck with kessel, clarkson and phaneuf, miracle they were able to get rid of them.

well one commentator's comments don't mean shit to me. the team's bad season should deter from trading him either. he has value, but he makes too much money and his value is declining.

and kessel carried the pens the 2 cups they won 1-2 rds each Cup run.

Kessel got traded to a team that was loaded.

No gm will sell the farm for him, the flyers will just keep him for another three years at least.

The leafs did good on that deal, they were able to rebuild and draft matthews and marner, also got kapanen. If they kept kessel, they wouldn't have got any high picks and nobody was going to be happy.

I would take him back right now that the team is established, I never thought he was a bad player.

but he cleaned up his act and kept quiet and produced. when the pens played like shit in the first rd of the playoff, kessel put them on his back. he did it again the next season too.

There was nothing wrong with kessel to begin with, his only fault was that he was put in a no-win situation. Burke traded two first round picks and promised a quick fix rebuild, so he was often times made a scapegoat. He ended up being unhappy, so the leafs had to ditch the burke rebuild and start fresh.
They traded him so they could bottom out. They traded him to a perfect team where his slumps wouldn't be front page news, because of the supporting cas they have.
The leafs were going nowhere by keeping him, as it would've hurt the rebuild and only made it worse for everybody

Can't remember, poor guy, they used to get on his case just if he ate a cookie. In the 70s, hockey players would go to a burger joint after the game and then head out to a bar.

i think the Cup winning Flyers teams drank in the locker room. they had a lot of booze hounds on the team.

They smoked in the locker room too, obviously you can't do that today. It's all about nutrition these days, they tell you what to eat. You have to be in top shape to keep up. Kadri used to eat junk food all the time and they switched him to eating more greens and a healthy breakfast.

that's what happened to hextall. one a road trip his first year as GM the players wanted pizza. hextall was pissed and changed the away menus to all organic foods. the players were pissed. he doesn't own the club so therefore shouldn't tell a grown man what to eat. only the owner can dictate that.
