Holy shit, is that a lot / potentially even more.

Here's an interesting note: San Jose was on the receiving end of the Hoffman trade just about a month ago, after Ottawa refused to trade Hoffman in-division / conference. San Jose turned around and sent him to Florida, anyway.

There's a caveat in the Karlsson deal that he can't end up on an Eastern Conference roster in the near future, or San Jose will have to give Ottawa another top draft pick. In other words, San Jose pulled the rug out once, and Ottawa wants to make sure they don't again.

Meanwhile, Ottawa has pulled off two blockbuster trades with the same team, making sure they have most of San Jose's dispensable roster and draft picks. That's pretty unique. On the other end, San Jose has Karlsson and Burns playing next to each other. I repeat, "Holy shit"...

None of the players they landed stand out as overly impressive, even the young prospects. This could turn out to be very little return for Ottawa, once they each have a chance to pan out. If none of the picks or players are franchise guys... ouch.

"4th round draft pick and a bologna sandwich in return. Montreal didn't ask for the sandwich, but the trade partner just felt bad."

I'll take it, sick of this kid and his dad trying to overvalue the deal.

Would you be happy with paying him 8M a year?

  14. Catfish Guest

not my money. im tired of simmonds dogging it every night. ghost is very hot and cold and his shots on net are never on net. time to move on.

  15. skinny123 Guest

It's about the cap space, he wants $8M per year. Why should he take up a penny more than Pasternak at $6.8M, let alone $1.2M.

  16. Catfish Guest

i don't see hextall taking on that kind of money. he doesn't produce enough to warrant it and the flyers already have big contracts that are killing them vs their production. no thanks.

I've been following Nylanders career ever since he was drafted and played for the Marlies. He's still a developing talent, he isn't worth a penny more than $6.5M.
His dad mike wants to put his kid at an elite level higher than he deserves, have at it hoss.
    You are what you are.

yeah - he's a good, but not great player. for the money he wants, he needs to be a shitload better.

Kadris getting $4.1M and scored over 30 goals and is a better 2- way player by far. Nylanders a 20 goal scorer that had some extra assists from his PP minutes.
