Trades and Potential Trades

I appreciate the reassurance. From the top down it looks like a great acquisition for the team, but my nerves were jumping between the wife talk and the recent memory of unnecessary offseason moves. I overthink this stuff to great degrees. I'll get excited about this once the wife stuff dies down, or fades away, for sure.

I didn't even bother to look at Karlsson's stats - that would've made sense. I figured it was just due to the Sens being a bad team, but wanted to see if anyone else had more than that. The +/- was an aberration for him, last year, which lends to the point.

Bjugy didn't do much in recent time at C, nor was he the easiest to find a line for. The move to Winger has helped a lot, and so has good line fits. I don't know that he'll have great success on the second line (having been there with Troch and McGinn), nor do I think he'll be put to his best use on the third line. So, we'll see if they try to make best use out of him by moving him around, or if there's another trade impending. He can play, and he's definitely a physical presence, so it'd be sad to see him go - he's a good dude. This team has a good problem on its hands, but it's a problem nonetheless, and if it's handled poorly we could see problems.

I was going to take a stab at your question. Then I thought. Matty exists in this world. He'll surely give you a proper answer. And, so he has.

I would have been happy to give a late 2019 1st for Hoff. I think Florida got him cheap.

 

Ive enjoyed the convo here. Anyone, Hoffman included is going to be better under a better system and I think Florida is a nice spot for him. As a Divisional rival (Florida) with Detroit, im not liking this one bit, lol.

I think Hoffman's +/- stats from last year were just a result of a horrible season in general, plus he had a bunch of playing time also. If you look at his career, in spite of last season, he's a +10.

Overall, I think its a great depth move for Florida... the guy scores and is a good asset on the PP.

 

If you’re going by my opinion you’ll be in trouble. As I remember LV had no chance at the playoffs this year, Hawks would definitely make it and Anders Bjork will be a Calder finalist.

Just as we discussed in the upcoming fantasy dynasty talk, +\- is OVERRATED. Good players penalized for being on a shitty team (Ottawa). Hoffman in FL is gonna push the Cats into playoff discussions for sure. Too bad the WAG battle was snuffed out so briskly. Would’ve liked to have seen some footage of that bout

Don't be so butthurt about the uncomplimentary things he said about Tallon. It's all accurate. No one can "know" the lockerroom about something that no one knows all the facts about yet.

 

No, I agree with that, regarding the lockerroom. Luongo even said in an interview yesterday that he hadn't been consulted, which you would've been led to believe by Tallon. And I'll jump all over Tallon when he fucks up. Hell, my immediate thought about the trade was, "Aw hell, here we go again...". But he sounded a lot more like Stephen A Smith than an actual reporter, here. I got the same info / good evaluation from other sources in less time, elsewhere.

I was listening to it while getting ready for work this morning. I was probably just in a crappy mood, but my first impression wasn't good, and there wasn't anything there that would make me go back for another listen / look.

 

Oilers willing to move the 10th overall.

 

I don't think the Flyers want the 10th pick. heard they wanna move up to the top 5. no idea if any team would be dumb enough to accept their offer.

 

Interesting trade for the Avs. They've got a trio of real good young blueliners: Girard (from NAS in the Duchene trade), and last year's #4 & #31 Makar & Timmons. Orpik brings nice veteran balance to a unit that can benefit from the influence of a two-time SC winner. The Avs can carry the cap hit without trouble.

The Caps are desperate for cap space, so a 2nd is a nice return for a salary dump.

The goalie, Grubauer, looks like a set-up move since the Avs have Varlymov and Bernier already. They're not going to carry all three. Grubs may be a real nice trade chip, or possibly they're moving on from Varly. Regardless, the Avs got better and have more roster flexibility today.
