Ben Bishop's rights traded to Dallas for a 4th.
Dallas acquired that 4th from Montreal as part of the Jordie Benn deal.

so which one of the Stars' slugs is getting bought out?
    Lehtonen $5.9, one more year
    Niemi $4.5, one more year.

My guess would be Lehtonen because he has been leten them in all season long.

Any chance they both get bought out?

the flyers are goalie shopping this summer. they may bite on one of those stars slugs...?

I wouldn't mind miller heading philly way. He always wanted to play there.

^^ red if he has anything left in the tank, im fine for 1 yr and not a crazy cap hit. the flyers have a plethora of goalie prospects and fans are a little pissed that anthony stolarz is not getting a full time shot this fall after playing a little this year. he's a monster at 6'8 i think. eventually they will need to see who is good enough to play and take over as the #1 goalie and keep another and deal the rest. i think they have 4-5 decent to fairly decent goalie prospects.

This just hit me: Remember when we were all waiting to see where Fleury was going to be shopped? GMJR is having one helluva season.

If he's still on the roster don't the Pens have to protect MAF?
Murray will look good in Vegas.

Yes. MAF has a NMC contract, so unless he agreed to remove that the Pens would have no choice but to use the 1 G exemption and protect him. I think Vegas would eagerly select Murray which would suck for PIT.

The best option remains trading MAF for the obvious reason of getting something over nothing. Of course MAF completely controls this since he can refuse any trade he does not like. That reduces his value, but his play the postseason adds back a lot of interest.

I'll have to try to dig it up, but there's a very interesting chart for MAF's postseason GA & SV%. In the years the Pens lost early in the playoffs his stats weren't bad, they were horrible. In the years they've gone far he's looked like a superstar.

might turn midnight and the guy that sat behind an old Vokoun could show up. or he might keep up his awsumness, fueled by teh Phil.

To be fair, there's a real good chance Rutherford tried to move him many times over but couldn't. Lots of goalies on the market the last 30 months.

Dallas is so fucked. Lots of big holes and they're going to have to burn alot of money just clearing up the goalie position...which means they'll probably win the central and make it to the CF.

    This.
Who cares if the Pens repeat though. Field is wide open for them at this point.

I hope, for Pens fans sake, that the org. does not go myopic and overlook MAF's very hot-and-cold postseason track record. Revel in the fact that he chose his final year for one of his hot performances. His age, salary, and overall inconsistency makes it a no-brainer IMO that PIT will act to retain Murray.

Dallas' situation is a suck for them, but they acted decisively to (start to) rectify that. All it's going to take is a year or so and a shitload of money to extricate themselves. My point is that for an elite G, there will be a strong market for MAF. (And it only takes one team that thinks he can be elite for them to drive his value up to something like a third. Bishop cost DAL a fourth, but MAF's contract status should help. If PIT took back a contract then they may even score a second.)

one sucky series and maf is worth datsyuk.

This is highly speculative but I would not be shocked if BUF were to be a player. Obviously questions remain about Lehner. That he cost a first is on Murray.

I am not saying I want this - I don't. I'm saying it would not shock me. New GM JB knows MAF better than anyone outside PIT. I'd live with it if it were to happen.

2 yrs at 5.75 is duable for most teams, where does he want to play?

  20. KilkennyDan Let's Go Buffalo! Patreon Champion Sabres Bills Kilkenny

At 30 years I think he wants to go someplace where he has a chance to win over the term of his next contract. And the key, the team that he's comfortable with the FO and the likelihood that they'll give him that contract.
