Trades and Potential Trades

The reason I, and many Sabres fans, became, uhmm, disenchanted with Staff is that he is extraordinarily inconsistent when it comes to potting the puck. Of course inconsistency means scoring droughts. It also means binges, and he's due for that.

I think he could be a phenomenal rental for Sweeney. He's genuinely a great guy, and I wish him the best. I'd like to see him stick around the NHL for a few more years. If that's with Boston then so much the better for the rivalry.

 

Stafford is a natural follower and not a leader, (that's o.k., most people are naturally followers). He needs structure around him, and I think he can strive in a strong org.

I'm not sure that's Boston. I do know he's in a heluva better org. than he's ever had. Drew could be a very pleasant surprise. Or, he could drive you nuts.

 

Adam Erne is playing in Tampa and getting regular minutes now. I saw him last night against the Canes.

He seems to play with a chip on his shoulder and agitates and is always going full out and in on the puck action... kind of kid you want on your team because playing against him looked tough last night.

 

He was up with the big team this year, but I have no idea if he got injured, buried, or exiled.

 

How did Cheveldayoff manage only 1 trade?

I get they don't want to be the AZ Coyotes...but they kind of are. Time to sell off already.

If I have to pick between a Pierre, Melrose, Weekes, or Bryz type to give me analysis (that most can do for themselves on the google machine if motivated), I choose to be entertained.

Besides, there is a terrible lack of non-Canadianized European/Russian analysis in the hemisphere. So I like the new perspective of the same stuff. If they're going to bomb me with tired grumpy predictable (and too often insightless, is that a word?) loudmouth Cherry there's plenty of room to throw Bryz in the fray.

He was asked about the aliens as a little comic relief. On the more serious topics, he has knowledgable insight and also has just finished playing with most of these players and knows them personally. I think he's better than a milbury, who's still stuck in the 70's.
