Hmmmm, Babs? Weather? Taxes? I wonder why he shot that down.
Nice work Garth *CRAZY* Remember, Hamonic wanted to go near his home and sick family member. Asked for a trade. Ignoring the Hamonic story, just doesn't seem like that's a good message to get out among the players. The result is that you have to pay Andrew Ladd 20% -30% more than he needs for example.

I'm still scratching my head about teams continuing to give Sideshow Steve work.

You at home taking it all in today bob?

Cats comment about Hex got me thinking about TMurray. Except Sabres fans are not so extreme as to string up a GM that they're disappointed with.

They could be very busy, ... or TM may have already blown his wad on that AHL trade.
Kane - will not be traded (unless a top pair D is coming to Buffalo).
    Reinhart- see Kane
Gorges - will not be traded (please, please prove me wrong, TM!)
Franson - he has value for a playoff team. I expect he'll be moved
    Kulikov - ditto Franson
Gionta - C (for good reasons), pending UFA, could retain salary. This all suggests he gets moved. But, he wants to stay (really). Even if he had a sidebar assurance of being resigned in July, trading him would send the wrong message to the team and to pending FA around the league. Brian stays.
Foligno, Girgensons - maybe some others: could be moved in a "hockey trade"

Shit, I could go on. The only players that will definitely be Sabres tomorrow: Eich, ROR, Risto, Lehner.
There's a better chance that TM has a slow day than a busy one.

from Jonathan Willis on the Habaneros getting Ott:
Over the last four seasons, Steve Ott's teams have been outscored by a 2:1 margin when he's on the ice.

Joe Whitney played with the Hayes brothers and uncle Jerry, didn't know he was still loitering in the hockey world.

I'm guessing this is an AHL only trade, surprised there haven't been more of these.

    Holy fuck Batman

I would would have guessed 1.4:1-ish, which is absolutely terrible.

Brothers Hayes + brothers Whitney + brothers Atkinson + brothers Gaudreau.

    Weird inbreeding.

  9. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

    wow, I'm surprised by this.
I guess all the concerns about work ethic/building strength (in Chicago) might have much more to them than I thought. I thought the stories were leaked to soften the blow about throwing him in to dump Bickell's contract last summer.

If I was a fish, I would have been landed and filleted many times over by now.

I'm ready to bite on any of this stuff.

    MOAR LENNIE MOAR!!!

Lots of smoke around Vrbata and Vanek. Seems very likely they'll be moved today.

Since 1968, the Pittsburgh Penguins have made 59 deadline day deals (most in the NHL). GM-JR has the second most D-day trades by any active GM in the league. With numbers like these, something tells me the Penz might be up for a little action...

I can't make any sense of Jordie Benn going to MTL unless Bergevin is moving one of his other dmen. WIth Sideshow Steve in and Jordie Benn loading up the blueline with left shooting dmen (Benn was on the right this year), will Bergevin be making a move for a good offensive player?

Rutherford has roster OCD, that's why I was so convinced he was going to kill the Pens last year, thank goodness he fired his coach.

I'm with you, I can't imagine Rutherford sitting still all day.
