I knew STL was gonna eat some money on this one. STL's hands were tied here. Shattenkirk turned down a Blues $42M/6 offer. They were about to get bupkis, but instead made a trade. Not a great trade, but it looks like they made chicken salad out of chicken shit. I hate chicken salad... and just about anything made with mayonnaise for that matter.

I look at Hanzal and then I look at Boyle, I see almost the exact player. A 6"6 3rd line centre with almost matching stats, Hanzal slightly better and Boyle not as injury prone.

The bar might've been just set a bit too high now on duchene.

Id take Hanzal over Boyle but point taken skinny.

Better skill set, but not worth the extra that they paid.

halo-love your use of the word "bubkis." I use that.

at least they got a nice draft pick back. i read on CBS the trade is a gamble as Shattenkirk can be a F/A but Washington needs to win a Cup now bf their window closes. This could be the move to do it.

    hmm chicken salad!

Every once and awhile a message really gets me thinking. Frank's comment about mayo was such an occasion.

    Mayo? Hmmm.

I know this, if you want silky smooth omelets, throw a dollop of mayo in and whisk briskly. Goooood.

I root for County Mayo in Irish football. Mayo never plays County Kilkenny in hurling, and those Kilkenny Cats are so dominant in hurling that no one cares that they suck at football.

See, make a profound point, and the mind spins in a thousand different directions.

    Go County Mayo!

    back to the Bishop trade-

if Bishop is now insurance for the Kings so that they wont lose anyone else in the expansion draft, wouldnt that value also be true for TB?

and would Vegas risk wasting an expansion pick on a UFA that may not (most likely not) sign there?

matty - im asking bc i don't know...

if Vegas picks a player as it's an expansion draft, doesn't the player have to go there? they can't boycott like Lindros did Quebec? BTW Today is Lindros' Birthday.

The whole point of a expansion draft is to help the new team out. If players didn't sign with them then that could create a mess of other players boycotting the draft and seeking employment elsewhere?

I love food. Mayo sucks and it can't be salvaged, even with bacon or other meat.

Plenty of worthy substitutes. Amen brother Frank.

Boyle is a big physical defensive player who gets some production by muscling skill players in ideal matchups. Hanzal is an actual all-situation player, with skill. Hanzal plays at 2c/w in a 4 line rotation on most teams in the league. Boyle is a 3 or 4C/W in specialized defensive rotations.

Based on LTIR rules, and other rotation issues on the active roster, OTT isn't alone.
AZ may look to pick up another fwd too for example.

not if the player is an unrestricted free agent (UFA), he can sign wherever he wants.

  15. Catfish Guest

thank you Matty, i knew i was missing something--UFA.

    *YAHOO* *DRINK*

LV would have other goalies identified and if they did take Bishop, they would flip him for a conditional pick I would think. Teams can talk to players ahead of UFA signing day.

Who knows, Quick may be exposed to trade/draft. He has a friendly cap hit and injury concerns.

  17. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I disagree, the point is to make it appealing enough for the new owner to justify shelling out ridiculous expansion fees from other investors.

Yay, Kenny finally cashing in lost/redundant causes.
