Trades and Potential Trades

    I chirped on it earlier.

I don't like Hanzal, but I like the trade for the wild from a fan or owner perspective (they won't let me own it btw). I think 3 other conf teams were kicking the tires on Hanzal, a late first isn't going to help for 5 years, and Bruce has a much more versatile line up even if Hanzal struggles a little bit. Since he's being plugged in for depth, and given the circumstances in the Central and the NON-DOMINATE west, like this trade for the Wild.

I'm not one to place a ton of value in picks outside of the top 10 though. I think this is Minnesota's best window to do something, I don't see any of STL, CHI, or NAS being more vulnerable than they are right now.

It will be real easy to look back on this next August and call it a disaster, but given the trade market of the last several years, the players available, the price of assets gambled, and the circumstances (plus intangibles like telling the team they want to fucking win), I rate this trade as 4 Burrito Supremes out of 5 on Bruce Boudreau's trade rating scale.

More Shattenkirk speculation: The Penz are currently $77K in the hole on cap space right now, but they could place Maata on LTIR to make room needed for this move. I've also heard Maata's name being whispered as a potential trade candidate. So there's that. Personally, I'd rather keep Maata and ice him if you have to, as opposed to shipping his ass off for another Iginla type bogey.

Something else to keep in mind for the Wild, they had a cupcake schedule compared to the rest of the WC playoff teams in terms of games played and how they had to play them. They took advantage of it, no doubt about it.

They average over a game every 2 days for the next six weeks,(gambling thread note) that's going to catch up with them. Every playoff team in the WC has played 3 or 4 more games than the Wild, except SJ who still has 2 more than MIN played. When MIN runs into a rough patch, I expect Lennie to blame Mumps and the trade instead of the problems with the schedule just catching up with them.

In other words, I think it would be a mistake to read much into the a little slump. They have a nasty schedule, outstanding depth, and a big point cushion in the standings. I expect them to take the foot off the gas to make sure everybody is healed up, the mumps thing passes, and for Bruce to finally start messing with line combos. All of that is going to lead to some more losses imo.

Iggy is ripe for the taking.

Maybe Chiarelli or Sweeney will bag him this time before the Pens try the experiment again.

Speaking of trades Matty, I have 5 trades out in Pigs league. Not sure if you're one of them.

The voices really want the Sweeney-Seabass team to trade a high pick or prospect for Iggy.

i love the trade of burrows to the tards. i was surprised the 19 year old swede jonathan dahlen (ulf dahlen's kid) was given to the nucks. this is better than a second rounder this year. 35 year old burrows, wow, should have been traded in 2010 for coin.

Rediiis!!! How've you been? My NW homie.

  12. hockeybob Hall-of-Fame Blackhawks

I don't see an offer Matty.

Why would I make a big move....unless Pasta was involved?
The Rhino is the athletic support of Barry's rage. You're going to have to bleed to get Benn.

Most are saying Shatty wants a shot at that NY cash grab. Washington would have to unload some other talent to keep (4) #1 Dmen. I hope he does go to MSG - that magical place where good hockey players send their careers to ... hit the wall.

    *CRAZY*

I thought he was going to the Rags. That's a really interesting add in WAS, thought he was going Rags.

Shocked he landed similar return to Hanzal, not that the two were comps. That Movement clause must have been a real kick to the groin area for Armstrong.

Unless Niskanen or Carlson are moved, I can't see Shattenkirk staying in DC after the season.
