http://www.stanleycupofchowder.com/2013/4/29/4280840/get-to-know-a-dumb-jerk-leaf-leo-komarov This is exactly what's missing with the leafs this year, compared to last.
Geez, you take clarkson out of the mix and they look like a well oiled machine, he better pick up his game soon, or things will start getting pretty brutal.
just think Skinny, in 2 games, Clarkson has the chance to be suspended again or a chance to get injured and the Leafs could be humming again.
Clarkson does seem to be the worst player on the team. It's bad enough when you don't produce, but when you make everyone around you worse... ugh.
Clarkson probably thinks the fans expect him to play like wendel, the problem is, he's not even playing as good as jason blake.
I think his only hope for salvation is if he could somehow mix in with bolland when he comes back, maybe put raymond on that line, looks good on paper anyway.
I reiterate from the preseason; the biggest mistake the Leafs did was let go of McArthur in favour of Clarkson.
They got trapped, they were looking at clarkson for a couple of years already, then when he became available, it was just an instant "yeah, let's get him here", without taking into consideration how good the team was playing despite the game 7 collapse.
Last year's team was good enough without changes. The coaching was the failure... plus Phaneuf's OT' gaff in game 4 that coulda meant the Leafs winning in 6.
Leafs should have let their team mature instead of change so much. Bolland and Raymond were good easy plugins to improve on the cheap but Clarkson really messed everything up, especially with that contract. Forced the Leafs' hands on other moves.
Replacing a $1.5M player with a $5M to do the same role, which he doesn't even come close, not something they envisioned when they signed him.
Yep. Much easier to evaluate and place young players in a good spot if there is roster continuity. Then again, that's why I thought Ottawa was going to be better this year.
Bolland is still very popular in Chicago and well liked. He was good to the fans or at least always looked to do right by them. Everybody wishes him well. I've read that Nonis is looking to extend him already, is that b.s. or reasonable. On the Macarthur over Clarkson, is it a matter of Nonis getting seduced by playoff runs? I think that's a very dangerous and outdated pattern too, if it's real. I'll save it for a summer thread, but I think it's extremely dangerous to rate a player high on playoff experience. The postseason is too fluky, too random, and racks up serious miles and is grossly overrated imo. There are 20 to 30 high intensity regular season games on which to rate a player (rivalries, postseason contention, etc.), gms should focus on those and overall player strengths and weaknesses instead of looking to playoff experiences.
