It's ALWAYS one extra pass or ten. And only one in like 20 times (and no I'm not exaggerating) does that turn into a shot. Usually they lose it eventually or have to reset. Play the f-ing odds. 20 halfass-decent shots is better than 1 great shot that still has a greater than 50% chance of being saved.
The only thing they improved on in terms of passing too much is that they don't do it so much on the PP now, thank God. Usually they pass it in an umbrella for 45-60 secs before taking one clear shot the goalie sees coming.
What I don't understand, for years now, the leafs have been missing that one guy that's willing to get in front of the goalie and screen him, that pest. I remember andreychuk used to do it so well, and was real helpful on the PP. That's what I can't understand about the clarkson signing, he came in with the label of being the fearless one, they were already knicknaming him wendel, and yet, they won't give him PP minutes. I say, put him in front of the net, a pester the goalie, like other teams do so well with us, and all you see is phaneuf looking and not doing anything about it.
JVR played lights out last night, luke who? Great trade, I have to say, burke did pull off some great trades, the US olympic team is gonna love seeing kessel and jvr on the same line, I wonder who the other forward will be. Again, a lot of shots, the D with the timid giveaways, my take, is that carlyle is a D nazi, because he won two norris trophies, its his way or the highway, and they're playing scared half the time.lol
really noticed how nimble Bernier is out there. He's like Brodeur the way he can get behind the net to play the puck.
The goalies have been good this year, both with almost identical numbers .932%, if I had to compare the two, I'd say that bernier let's up weaker goals, and more goals in important times in the game.
If a margin of difference begins to become apparent, then, yes, it will vary, but right now, in back to back, they alter, like I think most of the league. Reimer got the start with ottawa based on his record vs the sens, bernier vs mtl because he's from there, you get a lot of that, but, its mostly split right now, the stats are almost identical. Above all, they need two #1's because of all the shots.
Makes sense. I didn't look up their records against different teams, thanks for that. I hadn't been able to figure out the trends/patterns with the starter like you can with most clubs. Very interesting situation to watch, thanks for the thoughts.
Toronto is trying to break the mold. They got Bernier not so he can compete to take #1 away but so that they can always have 2 well rested #1 goalies and play the matchups. People keep saying that someone has to be picked soon but that isn't the case. Someone could emerge if one struggles or goes on a huge streak but Toronto has co-#1 goalies and they will not name a #1 just to have #1.
It's only a label, a lot of teams going this way, devils for one, which I can't understand, they should just trade marty to a contender and get a pick back.
