I'd rather not trade for a starter. I want a reliever on the cheap and save the prospects. We are low on them and we can't afford to have nothing for future development or better trades in the next couple years.
Jays traded a prospect (Guadalupe Chavez) for Scott Feldman. Everyone is thinking he's a starter because he's listed as such but he moved to relief this year with the occasional spot start. He is actually the kind of move I was hoping for. Great pick up. And like Upton he is just moving to the other bench tonight. We also traded Jesse Chavez and cash for Mike Bolsinger. Shit for slightly younger unproven shit in the bullpen. Jays are just hoping the change may help. If we are lucky it works out like Benoit for Storen has so far. If not then it's likely a wash.
Jays take a gamble on liriano, leads all majors in walks. They give them drew hutchison, take on his $13M salary for next season but also get two prospects.
I'm not a fan of Drew Hutchison so I'll take the Pirates #8 & #9 prospects even without Francisco Liriano.
Prospects are good, I just hope he could turn it around, he still strikes out one per inning, but his location's been off. He'll probably take over the sanchez spot when they send him to the pen, which is a bit concerning.
Sanchez will start Friday. Liriano could get the start Saturday. If that's the case we may need to hope Sanchez kills it while Liriano crashes. I honestly wish Liriano went to the pen. He could be dangerous there relying on minimal pitches (type and count). He could then compete for the #5 spot in the rotation next year when Dickey is gone. Stroman, Sanchez, Happ and Estrada are the clear top 4.
Yeah, I think their mind is made up for sanchez being the set up guy like last year. Liriano has nowhere to go but in the rotation, if he crashes he will sit, next year will be interesting.
Shapiro confirms Sanchez is going to be limited. Just not happening yet. Question is is he going to be put in the pen or is he going to skip starts.
I heard he's going to the pen and martin isn't happy about it. The amount of times he has to get up and get ready is just as bad if not worse for his arm. Imagine the outrage if he ends up getting hurt this way.
I don't get why he is being babied though. His pitch count is very low compared to other starters. I know his history shows he never pitched close to this high before but many pitchers that get thrown into the rotation have gone through the same without being shut down or close to injury. Strasburg was shut down completely and cost the Nationals their best WS chance but at least he had a real injury concern after Tommy John surgery.
