AB announced it himself. And now reports are coming out that he will ask for a new contract from whatever team signs or trades for him. Never mind Brown has already been paid about 20 million of his next three seasons contracted salary. Twice the Steelers have given him a new contract early. He's done his best to destroy any trade value he had. What a way to say thank you!
As long as teams want super star players there will be a team willing to pull the trigger on a first round pick plus.
I hope you are right gidion. I have my doubts that any team out there is going to be willing to give up much of anything for him right now.
He’s not due for suspension or any thoughts about that. Teams know that he will produce on the field. What is a WR who will catch 100+ passes with 1400+ yards and double digit TDs worth? Oh that’s right 2 first easy. So a first plus something else is in play.
Look what the Cowboys gave for Cooper and he's nowhere on Brown's level. Brown works hard and stays in shape and has a small jnjury history. I think a 1st is reasonable.
Cooper age 24 had no off field issues and was going to cost $14,335,764 over two years Brown age 30 has been nothing but drama and is going to cost $38,925,000 over 3 years if he is traded I don't know about you, but I feel more confident paying a 25 year old Cooper $13,924,000 in 2019, than I do a 31 year old Brown $15,125,000 in 2019, but that's just me. Especially when you look at your trade options.. What team in the 20-32 range would pay for that receiver? I'm not sure Gruden will offer more than their high 2nd rounder after just trading Amari...so who else are you talking about?
Couple of announcements that should not surprise anybody: Bud Dupree will play this season on his 5th year option price tag. While the price tag is a bit steep there, he has improved over the course of his career. Not at a $9 million a year level, but he's shown improvement. The sacks haven't been there, but he's had good pressure, not bad in coverage and solid against the run. He had at least 2 plays where he had the QB in his arms but allowed him to escape, possibly the fear of a penalty played a role, or just bad tackling technique...I am in favor of bringing him back, just wish it was at a lower price... Boswell will indeed be brought to camp, and thus he will get his roster bonus. The hope is he comes back to his 2017 form. To say he had a bad year is a gross understatement. SteelersDepot did an article detailing just how bad he was last season. This is a move I have been in favor of as well, give him a chance to earn his way back on the team. He's shown he's capable of being a top kicker, needs to rebound in a huge way. Steelers gave him a vote of confidence bringing him back, he needs to reward them with a good season.
At that price I'd let Dupree walk. That's ridiculous money for a guy that cannot even be relied on as a situational pass rushing specialist. He sucks against the run. Dupree is average at best. Two years 9 million sounds about right but at 9 million for one season I'd go shopping. Guys like Shane Ray and Shaq Barrett will be out there are probably far less expensive than 9 million. Look to sign somebody like Barrett or Ray to a 3 year 18 million dollar contract. See how Adeniyi progresses and draft another OLB. What is going to happen with Burns?
Burns is under contract so he'll be at least brought back into camp. Highly doubtful that the team will pick up his 5th year option...
Ravens won't be franchising CJ Mosley, there might be a chance to sign him. Still a chance he re-signs with the Ravens, but I'd try to sign him.
4 years ago it would've been a good signing. Now it would be a bad signing. Vet minimum with no guarantees of a spot then maybe. I don't see them signing him though.
