The Ryan Murray Thread (17' season injuries)

Tough luck for Sharp.
The decline was already well underway, it's a shame to see them all but say a guy is out for weeks with a concussion so early. I wonder if they're guessing or the science is finally able to lineup symptoms/damage, with a recovery time.

 

I still think it's a guesstimate. I don't think they can nail it gown exactly. Might depend on each individual player?

 

There's new science on concussions coming out every month or more it seems. I haven't kept up with the hockey side of it since last season.

I have no idea.

 

not sure if you guys had seen or read about the Patrick Eaves/Joe Exter collision from 2003. It was brutal. Exter has gone on to a nice career as a goalie coach and Eaves a long NHL career. Things were pretty dicey for both of these guys that season.

New York Islanders defenceman Ryan Pulock will miss the next four to six weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Saturday.

Pulock was an emergency replacement for injured defenceman Nick Leddy who has missed action with an upper-body injury. Leddy did however practice with the team Saturday.

 

A second Los Angeles Kings goalie went down with an injury when Jeff Zatkoff left practice Saturday. Zatkoff suffered a groin injury, according to Kings coach Darryl Sutter.

The Kings recently recalled Peter Budaj to back up Zatkoff, and Jack Campbell -- acquired in the offseason from the Dallas Stars organization -- could be called up with Zatkoff potentially out for a spell. Campbell, however, remains a work in progress despite once being a highly touted prospect.

To celebrate Ryan Murray's 11th or 12th injury since his NHL debut at the end of the 14' season, I changed the title of the thread.

Too bad for Backes and the Bruins... he was off to a great start. My kinda player, hope he returns soon.

 

With Sharp, Hemsky, Spezza, and Oduya, I wasn't high on the Stars maintaining what they did last year, but I wasn't expecting them to take a big hit like that.

 

Zach Bogosian is out for the Sabres for a few weeks.

Why do I not cringe with this news? Has he really become that pedestrian? Was he always that pedestrian?

He was once thought highly enough to have been selected 3rd overall in the draft - exactly 10 spots ahead of Myers.

 

Bogosian hasn't been healthy since he was drafted, not sure if it's bad luck or conditioning, but I think his style of play doesn't help. Big hype as a prospect, but know he's pretty much a disappointment. He shouldn't be there when the Sabres are ready to turn the corner anyway imo.

 

I think Bogo carries a NMC with him from WPG. Oh well, he won't be going to Vegas. I still am happier with him over Myers.

Of course there could be a little butthurt in that comment.
