I'm sure a lot of people will agree with you here. Hell, maybe I will one day. But I'm not there now; every fan has experienced the ups and downs* that every team cycles through. The last few years have been brutal for Sabres fans. I want them to win THIS year.

If one day years from now, after the Sabres have won a Cup or three, then I can take a more pragmatic view. Right now I wants go cat-shit crazy! (Substituting "cat" for the more common "ape" in deference to our friend.)

(* Young Red Wings fan may have no way to relate to what it's like to root for a sucky team, but their day will come. Someday.)

I commented back when Tim Schaller signed with Boston. I like the signing. I think I said something to the effect that he's a great depth guy. But, if he does not play the vast majority of his games for P-town then that signals bad news for Matty. Bad news.

With Vatrano out this is dicey for the Bruins. Hoping Shaller is in the lineup for a game or two and thats it. Such a crappy move by Sweeney putting Shaller and Griffith on waivers and then having Toronto nab Griffith. Based on last year's record doesnt Toronto get the 1st waiver wire shot also? then Sweeney calls Shaller up. painful.
Czarnik has really turned some heads. speaking of turning heads, Gudas turned his head around w/ a nice no look head shot so not sure if he'll be in the lineup or not tomorrow.

What's dicey about Vatrano being out again?

I was trying to tap into Sully's love of Vatrano from last year.
Take your depth and put it elsewhere.

Speaking of depth injuries that shouldn't matter much but do, Chicago had to dress a pile of rookies and mauled by the Blues. The score was close (before 2 ENGs) but the game wasn't. Desjardins is out for 4-6, putting an extra rookie in the lineup for Chicago.

Theywere badly outshot. 6 rookies and Tootoo is tough for any group trying to win against a good group.

    Yes.

BUFFALO, N.Y. ? Buffalo Sabres forward Evander Kane was taken to the hospital for evaluation after he slammed heavily into the end boards late in the second period of Buffalo?s season-opening 4-1 loss to Montreal on Thursday night.

Coach Dan Bylsma was unable to provide a definitive update on Kane?s status except to say, ?they?re checking for a lot of things internally.?

Kane was hurt while racing Canadiens defenceman Alexei Emelin for a loose puck up the left wing in the Montreal zone. Kane reached out for the puck when the two bumped.

Kane lost his balance, fell and slid with his left elbow slamming into the boards.

He lay in pain for several minutes while being attended to by a trainer. After being helped up, Kane was doubled over and slowly made his way off the ice and was led directly into the locker room.

    Emelin wasn't penalized.

Jonathan Quick could require surgery that keeps him out months

The Los Angeles Kings? starting goaltender left the team?s season opener after the first period with a reported lower-body injury. Now, surgery may be the solution for what?s being referred to as a groin injury, according to Sportsnet?s Daren Millard.

Quick was placed on injured reserve by the Kings on Thursday when his injury was classified as ?week-to-week.?

Peter Budaj was recalled from the AHL and Jeff Zatkoff will presumably see plenty of action in the interim.

Kings GM Dean Lombardi told reporters Friday that Quick's groin injury is located in a similar spot as his last groin pull that sidelined him for nearly two months.

Crosby has missed 165 total games in his career so far. Thats 2 whole seasons and 1 game..... Which would be the start of his 3rd.......He should be back within the week hopefully.....

Lots of curious scratches already. Tough to sort injuries from attitudes/performances. Seems a little more difficult than most years.
